We're a Neonatology practice proud to partner with Abington Jefferson Health and are among the most experienced specialists in the region for newborn care.

There's a good chance that among the first doctors to care for your baby in the hospital will be a neonatologist. This clinician will likely see your newborn in the delivery room soon after delivery. Neonatologists are pediatricians who have had additional training to specialize in the care of newborns. A neonatologist is experienced in caring for healthy babies as well as those with health probl

ems. A neonatal nurse practitioner is a nurse who has undergone advanced training in newborn care. Newborn Special Care Associates, PC is a neonatology practice whose members are proud partners of Abington Health in Abington PA.

In 1989, Dr. Moomjian helped care for a 26 week old baby boy in the Special Care Nursery at Abington Hospital. In 2026, that same baby boy - who was born weighing 1lb 14oz - welcomed his daughter at 35 weeks, and she has been in the Special Care Nursery for a little over a month.

Dr. Moomjian is enjoying retirement, but still helps teach the medical students at the hospital once a week, so we were glad to be able to snap this special moment of him meeting Maizie and reconnecting with Matt all these years later!

Sadie stopped by to bring some smiles to our team today! ✨

Born at 26 weeks weighing 2lb 5oz, Sadie spent an eventful 96 days with us in the NICU at Jefferson Health - Abington. She was re-admitted three weeks after discharge and spent another 4 days with us before going home for good. She is now a strong, intelligent and joyful 6 year old!

February is Full Term NICU Awareness month! People most commonly associate a NICU stay with prematurity, but over half of all NICU admissions are babies born at 37+ weeks.

George is one of our full term NICU success stories! His family do a book drive every year to help support the families in the Abington NICU - a special thank you to the teachers at Lower Moreland High School & Jenkintown Middle/High School for donating this year!

Jasmine came by to say hello to some of her favorite nurses today! After being born at 27 weeks, Jasmine spent just over 2 months with us in the NICU at Abington Hospital. She’s now 16 months old and thriving! 💕
