We would like to see our chapter become more involved with getting in front of children and also culinary students. We have noticed that if you show students what you have to offer many will follow your foot steps to learn from you to become better at there chosen field. Interacting with local south Jersey school kids we can teach nutrition and also bring awareness to what we do as chefs and food industry professionals. Kids need positive role models and also to learn about whom we are so they can better under stand what we do. The local ACIT is looking for chefs to come in and help teach the culinary students about chefs and pass on knowledge that we have so they can learn more and be better prepared. One of the goals I will put forward is to make sure every chef and food industry person knows that ACF offers education and support for them. Our certification programs or our community involvement will benefit everyone who gets involved.

Community Food Bank looking for volunteers for the
Downbeach Seafood festival

Each year, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey participates in the Downbeach Seafood Festival.

CFBNJ's participation specifically is to facilitate the chowder cookoff in exchange for the proceeds of this cookoff going to our mission. Every restaurant vendor who comes to this festival must donate a chowder to cookoff in order to participate in the event. We then sell tasting cards to event attendees for $10, attendees can sample all of the chowders, and vote on their favorites. Volunteers are needed to physically serve the chowder to the attendees.

The event itself takes place on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14. The location is Ski Beach (Dorset & Burke Ave) in Ventnor and parking will be for free at 4800 Wellington Ave Ventnor City, NJ 08406. We need about 40 volunteers per day and the shifts are 11-2 and then 2-5. My goal is to have floaters as well so that volunteers can take breaks and also walk around the festival.

Here is the info about the Downbeach Seafood Festival in Ventnor, NJ (https://www.downbeachseafoodfest.com/).

Anyone who is interested can contact me directly or sign up at cfbnj.org/volunteer-eht. (If you prefer to have your students sign up through you, that's fine too.) Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

An amazing opportunity for four different nights of great food and wine with family and friends catered by Haddon Culinary Chef’s James Liuzza and Joey Muldoon at Auburn Road Vineyard & Winery. This is a very successful wine and dinner series going on their fourth year of this collaboration. Chef James was the Chef of Di Bruno Bros.. in Philadelphia and Chef Joe was the Chef owner of Roberta’s in Northfield.
This will definitely be a memorable night of culinary masterpieces to the four people who win any of these auctions and will greatly benefit Richard Gottlob’s fundraiser on Tuesday August 19th at the Tuckahoe Inn. 5:30-8:00.
