🪷 Sutra 1.12: abhyāsa-vairāgyābhyāṁ tan-nirodhaḥ
~ The fluctuations of the mind are stilled through practice and non-attachment. ~
🕊 This sūtra reminds us that calm isn’t something we find — it’s something we grow. Through abhyāsa (practice), we return again and again to what centers us. With vairāgya (non-attachment), we release our grip on control, perfection, and certainty.
🌀 Together, they create a rhythm that quiets the noise of the mind. Abhyāsa is our dedication; vairāgya is our surrender — and when we practice both, we cultivate peace and calm.
🌿 This week, notice where you may be pushing too hard — can you soften, let go, and allow space to breathe? Where are you pulling back or avoiding effort? Could you show up with steady, consistent presence instead?
Like last week’s Sutra 2.46, which reminds us to balance sthira (strength) and sukha (ease), this balance of abhyāsa and vairāgya — practice and non-attachment — is where true calm begins to take root.
