WOW! So excited to have Auralite 23 in the store!!!!!
This amazing gemstone is found only in Canada with over 35 elements which occurred through meteorites, now tested from GIA!!!!
Auralite 23!!!!
Astrological Association: All
Chakras: All
Hardness: Approx. 7
Chemical Composition: There is much controversy as to the mineral composition of auralite. It is believed to be primarily amethyst and hematite (Si, O, Fe and S)
Testing by the GIA by the method of x-ray diffraction concluded that there are 35 elements composing 17 different minerals in auralite. These elements are listed below.
Silver (Ag), Gold (Au), Aluminum (Al), Barium (Ba), Beryllium (Be), Bismuth (Bi), Calcium (Ca), Cadmium (Cd), Cobalt (Co), Chromium (Cr), Copper (Cu), Iron (Fe), Mercury (Hg), Potassium (K), Lanthanum, (La), Magnesium (Mg), Manganese (Mn), Molybdenum (Mo), Sodium (Na), Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P), Lead (Pb), Palladium (Pd), Sulfur (S), Antimony (Sb), Scandium (Sc), Strontium (Sr), Thorium (Th), Titanium (Ti), Thalium (Tl), Uranium (U), Vanadium (V), Tungsten (W), Zinc (Zn) and Zirconium (Zr)
One source states that amethyst found in Thunder Bay is not radioactive, so it cannot have Uranium or Thorium in it.
There is a high percentage of metals in auralite. It is believed that many years ago, meteorites (containing rare metallic ores) crashed into our Earth. Over time, these elements (many of them metals) dissolved and seeped into the earth creating what is now known as auralite. If they hadn’t, chances are that the crystals would have remained predominantly amethyst.
Discovery / Found / Mined: 1.2 billion to 2 billion years old (formed during the Meso-proterozoic age)
Comes from the Boreal Forest in Thunder Bay in northwestern Ontario, Canada
Description: unusual and attractive, contains many silicate minerals and metals
Auralite has layers of chevrons which are composed primarily of amethyst, citrine and green quartz. These chevron designs are created by the starting and stopping of its growth and exposure to heat and pressure throughout its formative years. It is believed that 23 chevrons formed from each growth period.
Coloring: primarily translucent assortment of purple, gray, clear, orange, red (The red tips are caused by iron)
Also Known As: Auralite 23, Auralite Amethyst, Kindred Spirit Crystal
Name Origin: It was originally believed that there were 23 minerals contained within this mineral. Testing by the GIA concluded that there are 35 elements composing 17 different minerals in auralite. Another explanation is that auralite contains 23 different chevrons.
