A Liturgy for a Full Day
Lord,
for the days that fill up quickly—
with responsibilities to carry,
with small tasks that repeat themselves,
with people to care for
and countless moments that ask something of me—
meet me here,
in the fullness of it all.
More so—
let me see it clearly.
That the meals made and eaten.
The laundry folded, left waiting to be put away.
The dishes washed and returned.
The conversations in passing.
The laughter that finds its way in anyway.
All of it— is life, being lived.
So when I look at the day in front of me
and feel myself bracing—
remind me:
I do not have to live this day
afraid of running out –
of patience,
of energy,
of grace for what's ahead.
When I feel the urge to hold back,
to reserve,
to protect what I think won't last—
teach me a better way.
To receive the day as it comes.
To spend what I've been given freely.
To trust that You will meet me
in the moments I cannot yet see.
Because there are people to love,
and work to do,
and moments to notice
if I'm paying attention.
Let me not miss them
by fearing my own limits.
And when I reach the end of today,
let me see, with quiet gratitude,
that You were there
and there was enough—
enough for the whole beautiful, exhausting, ordinary thing.
