DATA RELEASE: Non-healing Venous Leg Ulcers

A case series (n=4) presented at the American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA) meeting highlighted the effectiveness of Altrazeal in healing chronic VLUs that were resistant to standard treatment.

The results demonstrated Altrazeal’s potential to improve patient outcomes while reducing clinical burden associated with painful dressing changes:
✅ Median mean healing time: 70 days (range: 60-150 days)

Ron Sotomayor, RN, BA, CWOCN, Nicole Leveille, MMS, PA-C, and Norbert Garcia-Henriquez, MD, FACS, FASCRS presented a remarkable case study on the use of Altrazeal for treatment of a mucocutaneous separation (MCS) following ileostomy surgery.

Meet Rafael Castellano, a 33-year-old professional ballroom dancer whose life took a dramatic turn when he lost both his legs due to fulminant community-acquired bacterial meningitis.

In this inspiring video, Rafael and his dedicated wound care nurse, Ron Sotomayor, RN, BA, CWOCN, discuss his remarkable journey of post-surgical treatment with Altrazeal.

After the implementation of Altrazeal, Rafael experienced a significant reduction in dressing changes, leading to decreased pain and enhanced comfort. Notably, his wounds epithelialized without the need for skin grafting, underscoring the efficacy of this innovative approach to wound care.
