Sometimes feelings can feel so BIG we can’t process them from an internal place. Externalizing them to another object is helpful. Today a client brought in her doll and along with Dr. Jamie’s doll they processed feeling worried and scared feelings through the perspective of the dolls and trying something new (jumping into the foam pit in our OT gym). Practicing these skills externally with another object allowed the child to learn new coping skills in a playful, non threatening way.

I also realize this is our first post on our new page. Welcome, what a great way to kick it off with the power of play
