Serenity House Counseling Services, Inc. Serenity House Counseling Services, Inc. is a nonprofit, community-based treatment facility offering

Substance abuse and chemical dependence causes more death, disability and illness than any other preventable health condition today and it affects people from all walks of life. Recovery from substance use disorders increases social connectedness, decreases involvement within the criminal justice system, promotes a healthier lifestyle, and increases workplace safety and productivity.

First, we want to say thank you to everyone who has donated items for the Serenity House Mobile Outreach Unit. Your generosity helps our outreach team provide essential supplies and support to unsheltered individuals throughout our community.

As we move into warmer weather, the items we are collecting are changing to better meet seasonal needs.

Take a look at the flyer below to see what we’re currently collecting. If you or someone you know would be interested in organizing a donation drive or helping collect items, we would greatly appreciate your support.

Every donation helps our team continue meeting people where they are and connecting them to resources, care, and pathways to recovery.

Yesterday it was 75° and sunny. Today it's 39° and hailing.

If that kind of whiplash has you feeling off, you're not imagining it.

Dramatic weather swings in late winter and early spring can trigger real shifts in mood, energy, and motivation. For those in recovery, that instability can quietly chip away at progress.

When the world outside feels unpredictable, lean into what you can control:

• Protect your sleep routine
• Get outside when the weather allows, even briefly
• Show up to meetings, even when (especially when) you don't feel like it
• Reach out before the stress becomes too heavy to carry alone

Recovery doesn't require perfect conditions. It just requires showing up.
Serenity House is here, rain, hail, or sunshine.

Recovery gives women the opportunity to reclaim their voice, health, and future. Today we celebrate every woman choosing healing.

Happy International Women's Day.

03/08/2026

Women in recovery, the staff who support them, the partners who walk beside us, and the family members who never give up, all play a role in rebuilding lives every single day.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the resilience, compassion, and strength of the women and communities making healing and second chances possible.

Today, we remember the lives lost to overdose, and stand beside the families, friends, and communities forever changed by addiction.

Black Balloon Day is a time to honor those we’ve lost while continuing the work to prevent future loss through education, compassion, treatment, and recovery support.

🖤 Instead of releasing physical balloons, we encourage everyone to participate virtually. Use our Black Balloon Day social media graphic to help spread awareness and start meaningful conversations.

Every shared story helps break stigma. Every conversation can save a life.

If you or someone you love needs support, Serenity House is here.

Re-entering society after incarceration can feel overwhelming. Our Re-Entry Fellowship Program provides job support, connection, and community. You don’t have to start over alone.

Recovery doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in community, with support, structure, and a safe place to rebuild.

The next video in this series from the DuPage Behavioral Health Collaborative and community partners highlights why sober living options are so important in DuPage County, and why recovery homes matter!

Too often, stigma and misunderstanding stand in the way of solutions that truly help people heal.

Take a moment to watch and please share to help us continue breaking down the stigma around sober living and recovery housing.
