The Accounts Payable Department organized a team on behalf of Southwell to compete in the annual “Haunted Night of Trivia” (formerly “Carnival of Knowledge”) on Thursday, Oct. 30 at the Southern Regional Technical College in Tifton.

This Halloween-themed contest of knowledge was a fundraiser for the Literacy Volunteers of Tifton-Tift County (LVTTC). Our thanks go to (pictured L-R): Morgan Young, Keegan Moore, Jody Yarbrough, and Heidi Forehand.

Southwell was a sponsor and participant of the Tiftarea YMCA's annual Lamar Jackson Memorial Golf Tournament on Oct. 20 at the Spring Hill Country Club in Tifton. The funds raised by this event help further the YMCA's impact on the community.

The Tift Regional Medical Center Emergency Department team, “Beyond Repair,” brought home the trophy for Top Group Donation at this year’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event at ABAC. The team raised an incredible $5,225 to support family violence prevention programs through Ruth’s Cottage and The Patticake House, which is the highest group donation in event history.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes raises awareness about sexualized violence against women and invites men to take an active stand by walking in high heels to challenge harmful stereotypes.

We are proud of our ER team for their compassion, advocacy, and support for survivors in our community. Great job, Beyond Repair!

Southwell recognized two directors at its quarterly Leadership Development Institute (LDI) meeting on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Southwell Community Events Center. Congratulations go to Tonia Waldrop and Beth Ryther for these special recognitions at the October LDI!

During an LDI, the entire Southwell leadership team comes together for a mandatory day of intense training. This includes managers, directors, vice presidents, senior vice presidents, and President/CEO Chris Dorman. The purpose of LDIs are to develop the skills of Southwell leaders in order to enable the achievement of organizational goals, forming a systematic approach to leadership and quality improvement.

Becker’s Hospital Review recently highlighted Southwell Medical in Adel as one of the nation’s top performers for low unplanned readmissions after an outpatient surgery. This determination was based on CMS data.

“This recognition reflects the outstanding work of our clinical and support teams, whose commitment to quality and patient-centered care continues to elevate Southwell’s reputation across South Georgia," said Chris Dorman, Southwell President/CEO.

When readmissions are low, it shows a hospital is likely providing effective post-discharge care, ensuring patients have the right medications, clear instructions, and are transitioning smoothly to their next care setting. This reduces the risk of further complications, hospital-acquired infections, costs, and the emotional and physical strain on patients and their families. Great job to the Southwell Medical team!

Southwell Ear, Nose and Throat, our system's newest specialty clinic, held a Grand Opening event on Tuesday, Oct. 21!

Southwell Ear, Nose, and Throat is the practice of otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon Dr. Dontre' Douse.

The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce, refreshments, giveaways, tours of the facility, and a meet-and-greet with Dr. Douse and his staff. Thanks to all who attended!
