Maximum PT had Katrina Moreland, PT and Memory Porter, PT competing to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. Maximum Physical Therapy was a platinum sponsor for this event called Majors Fitness Festival. We also donated some prizes for the podium Winners. Katrina and her partner took first place in Intermediate division. Memory and her partner placed second in the RX division.

Fall Sports are in getting into full swing quickly and with the steep ramp of activity and games comes acute injuries. Getting on top of acute or chronic injuries is key to staying at your peak performance!

What is laser therapy?

Laser is an advanced modality that energizes cells to heal faster, reduce inflammation, and reduce pain! It works for any chronic or acute injury from shin splints, tendonitis, deep bruising, and so much more!

What is shockwave?

Shockwave is another advanced modality targeted towards injuries that have become chronic. An acoustic wave vibrates tissues creating small amounts of inflammation to reset the tissue. Think about it like deleting the internet history on your web browser so it can work more effectively. Shockwave works similarly to reset the healing process of tissue to get chronic injuries back on the path to recovery. Used in conjunction with laser you can significantly cut down your recovery times and get back to performing at your best!

Maria McDonough is a recent graduate of Des Moines University and fellow alum of Iowa State University. Maria grew up in Decorah, Iowa running cross country, track and playing basketball. She recently bought a house with her fiancé in SE Des Moines and will be getting married next summer!

Memory welcomed Cruze Elimae Porter on May 18th at 4:41pm. She weighed 6 pounds 13 oz. Both are healthy and doing well. Memory will be back in June sometime to start seeing patients again. In the meantime Jaime Schrandt is able to take care of everyone and starting June 13th we are adding to our staff. Thank you for understating for a few weeks!
