Mrs. Betty Moore Myers, 86 of Sparks, Georgia, passed away at her residence on September 11, 2025. Mrs. Myers was born on December 12, 1938 in Lowndes County to the late Joseph William Moore and the late Willie Mae Gibbs Moore. She lived most of her life in Cook County and was retired from the Cook County Service Center. She was a member of the Brushy Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Myers is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Lisa Myers of Adel, Georgia; four daughters and one son-in-law: Lori Myers of Adel, Bonnie Myers of Sparks, Lisa and Tommy Wood of Tifton, Georgia, Janet Myers of Adel; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Willene Corbett of Adel and Joan Myers of Orlando, Florida. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Thomas Myers, Jr.; two sons, Tommy Myers and Mike Myers; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. William Davis officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home (Boone Funeral Home, Inc., 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.; Adel, Georgia) prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Church Cemetery. Scott Dixon, Tucker Wood, Ethan Myers, Tim Myers, Jarod Myers and Denny Roberts will serve as pallbearers. Special music for the service will include "Beulah Land", "I Call It Home" and "Amazing Grace" on bagpipes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anita Stewart Oncology Center; 1623 Madison Ave., Tifton, Georgia 31794.

Some glad morning when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away.

On August 28, 2025, Render Folsom of Adel gained his wings and entered into the glory of his Lord. Render was born November 2, 1943, to the late David L. and Susie I Onnie Roach Folsom and lived in Adel his entire life. A graduate of Crossroads School, he was a farmer, bus driver (42 years), loving husband, father, PaPa, uncle, brother, and friend to many. He served his community on the ASCS Board for many years, helped organize Pine Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Lifetime Member of the Cook County Young Farmers, and was a member of Friends Helping Friends. An Emeritus Mason, Render served as Past Master of Adel Lodge #310 twice and was Secretary of the Lodge for over 15 years. A Deacon of Springhead Baptist Church, Render could often be found on Sundays leading the choir and singing praises to his Lord.
Mr. Folsom leaves to rejoice in his Homegoing Fredda B. Folsom, loving wife of 58 years, sons Lee (Christie) and Leslie (Angie), all of Adel. Grandsons Ethan, Grant, Jack, Thad, and Greer, all of Adel; four sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, two sisters, five brothers-in-law, and eight sisters-in-law.
Visitation will take place Sunday evening, August 31, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Boone Funeral Home (1804 South Hutchinson Ave. in Adel). Homegoing Services will be held at Springhead Baptist Church on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joey Taylor, Dr. Danny Ray and Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. Interment and Masonic graveside rites will follow in Folsom Cemetery. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Friends Helping Friends; C/O Sherrell Luke (998 Fellowship Road; Hahira, Georgia 31632). Boone Funeral Home is serving the Folsom family.

Mr. Robert L. Dent, age 69, of Sparks, Georgia, passed away on August 29, 2025 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born on February 24, 1956 in Hahira, Georgia, but lived most of his life in Cook County. Mr. Dent was the son of the late George W. Dent and the late Bettie Jane Bates Dent. He was a Baptist and also the owner and operator of Dent's Service Station in Adel.
Mr. Dent is survived by his wife, Sue Folds Dent of Sparks; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Hope Dent of Sparks; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Daniel Jefferson of Hahira, Georgia; grandchildren: Emily and Sam Harper of Sparks, Abby Dent of Sparks, Jacob Dent of Sparks and Kaitlyn Jefferson of Hahira; one great-grandchild, Preston Harper of Sparks; and a brother, Joe Dent of Sparks.
The funeral services for Dent will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Ashley Way officiating and Mr. Steve Meders providing the eulogy. Interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Bennett, Joe Lance Godwin, Casey Vickers, David Shirah, Chris Morris and Dylan Hanks. Honorary pallbearers will include Ronnie Warren, Michael Weeks, Doug Hanks, Bruce Vining, Danny Bennett, Bobby Morrell, Jerome Moore, Scotty Phillips, Mike Carter and Steve Register. Special music for the service will include "Fast Cars and Freedom," "Scars in Heaven," "Midnight Cry" and "I Believe." Mr. William Huffstuttler, 92 of Adel, Georgia passed away at the Doctors Hospital of Augusta, Georgia on August 24, 2025. Mr. Huffstuttler was born on October 22, 1932 in Clay County, Mississippi to the late Ernest Edward Huffstuttler and Ovella McCool Huffstuttler. He has lived most of his life in Cook County and was retired from Del-Cook Lumber Co. and Specialty Stampings. He was a Deacon Emeritus and Charter member of New Life Baptist Church. He also served in the United States Army.
Mr. Huffstuttler is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ruevelia Ertzberger Huffstuttler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Miranda (Larry) Corbett; Peggy (Bruce) Vining; his son and fiancée, Bruce Huffstuttler (Sherry Carlson) all of Adel; eight grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Rev. Bill (Pam) Huffstuttler of Jacksonville, Florida and Charles David Huffstuttler of Tifton, Georgia; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Irene Harrell of Statesboro, Georgia and Lorene (Jim) Pingitore of Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Eddy Huffstuttler, one daughter, Nancy Huffstuttler, his grandson, Justin Huffstuttler; son-in-law, Roger C. McDaniel; two brothers, Gene Huffstuttler and Leonard Huffstuttler; two sisters, Eloise Stone and Margaret Roberts.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place from 2:30 to 4:00 PM at the church prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the New Life Baptist Church Mission Fund; P.O. Mr. Ray Leo "Lee" Green, age 51, passed away at his home in Boston, Massachusetts on August 20, 2025. He was born in Tifton, Georgia on September 8, 1973. He was raised in Cook County and was a Baptist. Mr. Green lived and worked in Atlanta for many years before moving to Boston eight years ago. He was employed with w3r Consulting in Boston.
Mr. Green is survived by his parents, Ray and Gayle Boone Green of Lenox, Georgia, and his sister, Cherise Matechek of Savannah, Georgia, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service for Mr. Green will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Lenox City Cemetery with Rev. Danny Culpepper officiating. Interment will follow the graveside service.

Mr. Roy Copeland Darby, age 88, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Southwell Health and Rehabilitation Center in Adel. He was born in Berrien County on October 8, 1936 to the late Emory C. Darby and the late Nina McNeal Darby but live most of his life in Cook County.
Mr. Darby spent most of his youth in Adel where, at the age of thirteen, he met the love of his life, Marianne Talley. He graduated Cook High School in 1956 before attending South Georgia College. He spent time in the U.S. Army where he was a Sergeant First Class. In 1958, he and Marianne were wed and settled into married life in Adel. Roy began his career in forestry, first working at Darby Lumber Company and then at Talley Veneer and Crate Company. He eventually owned his own pulpwood business before joining Del-Cook Lumber until his retirement. During this time he also became a licensed realtor with Century 21 and received his Associate Degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Roy was very active in his community where he served two terms on the Adel City Council and was a Director in the Jaycees.
He loved the Lord and dedicated himself to helping at his church home, Adel United Methodist Church (now Adel Wesleyan Church), as a Lay Leader, Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Methodist Men, Sunday School teacher, choir member and also assisted with the Youth Group.
Roy had a wide range of friends and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. He enjoyed getting to know people and was known for always looking at someone's character rather than their social status or appearance.
He was very active in charities including SPCA, Wounded Warriors Project and the St. Laidre Indian School. He was a lifetime contributor to The Daily Bread and gave a copy to most of the people he met. He was a Mason and Shriner, holding memberships in the Adel Masonic Lodge #310 and the Hasan Temple of the Shrine. He spent many Saturdays taking families to the Shriner's Hospital in Tampa. Roy was one of the last true Southern Gentlemen and he will be greatly missed.
Mr. Darby is survived by his wife, Marianne Talley Darby of Adel; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Susan Darby Young and Kenny Young of Tifton, Georgia, Leslie Galifianakis of Acworth, Georgia, Allison and Timmy Davis of Adel; three grandchildren: Mary Elizabeth Davis of Adel, Darby Davis Lindsey (Skylar) of Norman Park, Georgia, and Allie Galifianakis of Acworth; four great-grandchildren: Brantley Davis of Adel, And Anniston Lindsey, Tucker Lindsey and Bowen Lindsey all of Norman Park; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his sister, Helen D. Mashburn.
The funeral services for Mr. Darby will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Adel Wesleyan Church with Rev. Doug Tolson and Mr. Tom Thomas, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn City Cemetery. The family will have visitation at the church from 1:00 PM until service time on the day of the service.

Mr. Joel Ellis "Papa Joe" Futch, Sr., 87, of Adel, Georgia passed away on August 13, 2025 at the Fellowship Home of Nashville, Georgia. Mr. Futch was born on June 15, 1938 to the late Ronald Thomas Futch and the late Verma Lee Hall Futch. He lived in Cook County most of his life and was a member of the Adel United Methodist Church. Mr. Futch was retired from the Target Distribution Center in Tifton, Georgia, where he worked as an equipment operator.
Mr. Futch is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Lisa Futch, a daughter and son-in-law, Jayne and Tim Grey, and another son-in-law, Zach Chung, all of Tifton, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Futch was preceded in death by his daughter, Layne Chung, one brother, Jack Futch, and one sister, Leta Philpot.
A memorial service will be held ay 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. A eulogy will be given by Dr. Mary Sue Ward. A private interment was held at the Futch Family Cemetery prior to the memorial service at his request. Mrs. Versie Spell, 83, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on August 14, 2025 at the Southwell Health and Rehabilitation Center in Adel. She was born on March 13, 1942, in Cook County to the late Ed Buck Tomlinson and the late Cora Mae Browning Tomlinson. Mrs. Spell lived all of her life in Cook County and was retired from Nashville Mills after working many years in the Human Resources Department. She was a member of the Cecil Baptist Church.
Mrs. Spell is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Dan, Jr. and Terry Spell of Ocilla, Georgia, and Tim and Kim Spell of Adel; five grandchildren: Dr. Tara Spell of New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. Dan Wade Spell, III of Birmingham, Alabama, Tanner Spell of Athens, Georgia, Timothy Spell and Caroline Spell, both of Adel; one brother, George Tomlinson of Hilliard, Florida; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Carolyn Tomlinson of Adel, Sue and Charles Walker of Adel, Linda and Ray Walker of Greenville, South Carolina; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Tomlinson of Adel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Wade Spell, Sr. and two brothers, Bobby Tomlinson, Sr. and Albert Tomlinson.

Mr. Jerome Harnage, 87, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on August 11, 2025, at his residence. He was born on September 26, 1937, in Hahira, Georgia, to the late Henry Austin Harnage and Clytie Louise Giddens Harnage. Mr. Harnage lived most of his life in Cook County and was a member of the Cecil Baptist Church. He retired from the Valdosta Fire Department after 38 years of service and also served in the United States Army National Guard.
Mr. Harnage is survived by his wife, Jean Crowley Harnage of Adel; three sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Donna Brady of Sparks, Georgia, Danny and Bonnie Brady of Adel; "Special Son" Scotty and Amber Brady of Adel; two daughters and sons-in-law: Lynn and Bill Cornelius, Pam and Michael Rollins, all of Adel; "Special Grandson" Brady Hayes of Valdosta, Georgia and "Special Granddaughter" Jessica Cornelius of Adel; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his nephew, Dillon Brinson of Lake Park, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. James Stringer officiating and an eulogy provided by Mr. Dillon Brinson. Visitation will take place from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., on Wednesday immediately prior to the memorial service. Mr. Harnage will be interred at the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. In keeping with Mr. Harnage's wishes, he was cremated.

Mrs. Iretha B. Luke, 94 of Lenox, Georgia passed away August 3, 2025 at the Southwell Health and Rehabilitation Center in Adel, Georgia. She was born in Berrien County on April 4, 1931 to the late Ethan Bennett and Alice Forte Bennett, one of thirteen children. Mrs. Luke lived most of her life in Cook County and was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Berrien County. She was retired from Texture Tex in Tifton, Georgia and was also a homemaker.
Mrs. Luke is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and June Luke, Keith and Sheila Luke; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ronnie Griffin all of Lenox; five grandchildren, Chad and Danyelle Griffin of Kennesaw, Georgia; Melanie and Jared Lawrence of Adel; Kayla and David Fortune of Nashville, Georgia; Kara and Brandon Ward of Lenox; Karly and Chris Joyce of Douglas, Georgia; nine great grandchildren: Aaliyah Faith Griffin of Hahira, Gannon Harrell Griffin and Gracie Lane Griffin both of Kennesaw, Megan, Josie and Jack Lawrence all of Adel, Kelsey Mullis of Lenox, Tucker and Lillie Fortune both of Nashville; seven great great grandchildren: Cree Mekhi Gregory of Hahira, Georgia; Charles Bennett Ward and Hazel Olivia Ward both of Lenox, Haven Laine Joyce, Kohen Luke Joyce and Reese Madelyn Joyce all of Douglas, Wilkes Adler Griffis of Lenox. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Luke was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tommy Edward Luke and one great granddaughter, Gracie June Lawrence; five brothers, L.K. Bennett, H. Cedar Bennett, Wesley Bennett, Boss Bennett and Joe Bennett; seven sisters, Susie Sellars, Nan Gaskins, Alma Castleberry, Merle Pritchard, Odell Avery, Lola McCall and Athene Exum.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM, Thursday; August 7, 2025 at the Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Bennett and Rev. Tim Luke officiating. A eulogy will be given by her granddaughter, Melanie Lawrence. Interment will follow at the Lenox City Cemetery. Chad Griffin, Andy Baker, Scott Sellars, Jared Lawrence, David Fortune, Brandon Ward and Chris Joyce will serve as pallbearers. Charles Connell will sing "Will the Circle Be Unbroken," "Some Call It Heaven, I Call It Home" and "Beulah Land" at the service and "Go Rest High on That Mountain" at the graveside. "Lead Me Home" and "Stroll Over Heaven" will also be played at the service. Visitation took place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Boone Funeral Home. The family will be making headquarters at the home of Keith and Sheila Luke on the Moultrie-Lenox Road outside of Lenox.

Mr. Michael Walter Gibbs, 70, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, August 2, 2025 to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, surrounded by his family. He was born April 1, 1955 in Adel. Mike graduated from Cook High School in 1973 and studied Electronics at Valdosta Technical School. He was a member of the Massee Baptist Church. He was in the Metal Building Industry for 44 years, spending the majority of that time as President and Co-owner of Elite Structures, Inc. for 37 years,

Mike loved Jesus and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed playing the guitar, was an avid lover of the outdoors and his passion for working in his yard was always on display by its splendor and beauty.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Travas and Alicia Gibbs, his daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Curtis Jones all of Naylor, Georgia; Shelley and Stuart Stone of Nashville, Georgia; his grandchildren, Jackson Gibbs, Eli Gibbs, Olivia and Tony Badder, Ty Kenney, Andrew Stone, Kylee Hughes and Kailyn Hughes; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Monica Gibbs; mother-in-law, Lonita "Boots" Hutchinson; three nephews and one niece, Christopher and Emily Gibbs, Carlton and Lexie Gibbs, Landon Gibbs all of Adel; Marriss and Jack Millsap of Valdosta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Virginia James Gibbs and his beloved wife of 27 years, Lynn McNaughton Gibbs.

A funeral service to celebrate Mike's life will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Badley and Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. Interment will follow at the Antioch Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 4, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.

Mr. John Charles "J.C." McCranie, age 64, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on July 30, 2025 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born on June 1, 1961 in Adel and he lived his entire life in Cook County. Mr. McCranie was a truck driver for R&L Carriers and also served eight years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Baptist.
Mr. McCranie is survived by his wife, Patricia Vickers McCranie of Adel; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Stephanie McCranie of Sparks, Georgia; a daughter, Stephanie McCranie of Jersey City, New Jersey; his mother, Evelyn Holt Glaze of Sparks; two grandchildren, Christian McCranie and Maverick McCranie, both of Sparks; two brothers and a sister-in-law: James Carroll McCranie of Sparks, Frank and Rhonda Carter of Adel; and a sister, Anna Marie Carter of Adel. He was preceded in death by his father, James Carroll "Pete" McCranie, Sr.
A memorial service for Mr. McCranie will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel) with Rev. Mike Brannon officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM immediately prior to the memorial service.
