Senator Stabenow and Representative Rheingans recently spoke at a press conference in opposition to MDHHS bid out proposal. This proposal could privatize public mental health care in the State of Michigan, a move that could strip local funding, local oversight, and care from thousands of vulnerable people.

Join Us for a Community Roundtable on Substance Use and Older Adults

LCMHA invites community members to participate in an important roundtable event aimed at gathering insights on the challenges faced by older adults (ages 55 and up) regarding substance use.

This open event welcomes anyone in the community to share their personal experiences and stories. Our discussion will focus on identifying recent system changes and the unique challenges within our community that may be contributing to the rise in substance use and overdose among this demographic.

For more information or inquiries, please reach out via email at mwidmer@lcmha.org.

"The world is better because you're in it. Never forget that consumers make a difference. Walk a mile in our shoes!"

LCMHA staff, consumers, and community members came together with other advocates from all over the state to make their voices heard at the State Capitol yesterday! The annual Walk A Mile event gathers more than a thousand people who care about mental health. They come together to raise awareness and support a strong and safe public behavioral healthcare system. This event is important because it helps everyone understand, including legislators, how crucial mental health is and why we need to take care of it.

Even though this year's rally is over, you can still reach out to your legislators to let them know how important the public mental health system. Visit: https://cmham.org/advocacy/take-action-now/
