Thank you, Helene M. Epstein, for sharing this highly informative and relevant article on processed food and food addiction. When coaching clients, my very first recommendation is to begin eliminating processed foods. The food industry has very successfully employed food scientists to use the perfect combination of fat, salt and sugar to attain what is called the “bliss point,” which refers to the point at which addiction sets in. Brain imaging reveals a similarity to the effects of co***ne on the brain. This is not accidental!! How sinister is that?

Designed to be irresistible, ultraprocessed foods are rewiring our brains and taking a significant toll on our health. But there are strategies for combating their overuse.
