Beat the winter illnesses.
Many people deal with illness throughout the winter.
This is due to a suffering immune system. Many people like to blame the cold weather (it plays a role) but it has more to do with how our activity levels change due to the cold. We are less active, see little sunlight, and often eat worse than we normally would.
Here are three things you can do to keep your immune system strong this winter:
1. Reduce blue light exposure
We spend most of our time indoors during winter (especially me as I hate the cold/snow) and get blasted with blue light constantly. This weakens our immune system and affects our sleep cycles. Limit screen usage at night, use blue blocking glasses and filters when using devices later in the day. You can also counter this by using red light devices and lightbulbs to add some infrared wavelengths back in.
2. Stay active
20 minutes of physical activity a day makes a huge difference for your immune system. It can be hard in winter, but here are some things that I utilize: rebounder, resistance bands, body weight exercises. Sometimes I just walk around my house because I have not been active enough that day. Make sure you are moving as much as you can.
3. Nutrition
Obviously making sure you are eating right is crucial, but there are also supplements that can be very beneficial to help keep those winter illnesses away. Here are just a few that I utilize
Magnesium
Vitamin D
Congaplex (Standard Process)
Thymex (Standard Process)
Electrolytes
Hope that helps
