Spring has sprung at Hawthorn Court, and with it comes a vibrant burst of color and life that fills our community with joy. The flower arranging committee, a cherished group of dedicated residents, is reveling in the sweet smell of success as they transform fresh blooms into stunning arrangements. Each week, they gather in our sunny activity room, surrounded by an array of flowers in all shades and sizes, their laughter and creativity filling the air.
Our Montessori programming plays a crucial role in this blossoming initiative. Designed to foster independence and engagement, this approach empowers our memory care residents to take an active part in their activities, allowing them to explore their creativity while also sharpening their cognitive skills.
As they carefully select flowers, trim stems, and arrange petals, the residents find purpose and joy in their work. The tactile experience of handling the blooms, coupled with the fragrant scents wafting through the room, stimulates their senses and sparks cherished memories of springtime festivities from their past. Conversations flow freely as they share stories of gardens they once tended or special occasions where flowers played a significant role.
