Aloha, we hope that everyone is having a awesome week so far! This is our 9 year old patient who was getting teased at school about her front tooth. She was in treatment for about 1 year with Invisalign First (Invisalign has a special program for phase 1 orthodontics). There are things that we could have done to improve her smile, but our patient is happy and probably has nicer teeth than those kids that teased her! One of the benefits of invisalign is that you are able to clean your teeth much better than traditional braces.
Call us today for any questions or concerns, we hope to hear from you soon! 😁🦷

Good Afternoon families !

What is Phase one orthodontics? This is performing orthodontics when a child still has baby teeth. There are certain situations where doing phase 1 orthodontics allows you to achieve a better result than waiting until all a child's baby teeth falls out. We want to stay in the orthodontics for as short as possible and there may be a need for orthodontics in the future.

An underbite is an example of a condition that should be treated with phase 1 orthodontics and as early as possible. This is a patient of ours who was treated at 8 years of age, was in treatment for about a year and 3 months. The next picture is 3 years later. She now has all permanent teeth and although there are still some things that could be improved with her smile, she is happy where she is at right now and is just happy that she long longer has an underbite.

Call us today for any questions or concerns ! 😊 We hope everyone has a great rest of their week.

Aloha, We hope everyone had a great week and holiday! There are a lot of misconceptions regarding tongue ties and breastfeeding, People think that getting your infant's tongue or lip ties diagnosed at an office that performs these procedures are a waste of time unless you are going to get the procedure done. As a practitioner who has done thousands of procedures, I never try to persuade a mother to get the treatment done. The exam is about knowledge, the procedure is 100% optional. Be careful when looking up information on tongue tie forums/pages because there are so many factors that makes each situation different.
My recommendation for mothers who are having trouble with breastfeeding is to have an exam before 10 days of age to diagnose tongue/lip ties. Give our office a call for any of your questions !😄

Happy Aloha Friday! Over these next few months, I would like to provide some information about tongue ties and its relation to breastfeeding. After performing 1000's of procedures over the years, there is still so much confusion and misinformation about the relationship of tongue ties with breastfeeding. In our practice, this is a purely optional procedure. Learning about this on social media forums can be very misleading because every situation in different. I would like to share my experience from a practitioner's view. More to come in the near future...
