👏🏽 Let's congratulate Chaz-Lynn Nakamura, RN, recipient of the 2025 Nurse of the Year Emerging New Nurse award! This award recognizes a registered nurse with experience of three years or less in the nursing profession who demonstrates exemplary attributes, including exceptional clinical abilities and growth, and participating in leadership opportunities early in their career. Each nurse was nominated by colleagues, who wrote in with glowing examples of these nurses' commitment to quality, excellence and integrity. Here's an excerpt from one of Chaz-Lynn's nominations:

"Chaz-Lynn takes initiative during patient care. She is willing to learn, adapt and adjust without complaining. She is always calm and never afraid to call the doctor or ask for a second opinion. Whenever it is her first time doing something, she never does it alone. If something is new to her on the floor she goes out of her way to learn the new task to her. She is competent in almost every nursing skill our unit provides due to this."

🌞 Nothing says summer like a good old fashioned carnival! On July 17 and 18, our Pali Momi night and day shifts took a well-deserved break to enjoy food, games, shave ice and lots of laughs! They also rallied up some school supplies to help local keiki start the year strong. 📚✏️

Celebrating Leo Manzano, RN, recipient of the 2025 Nurse of the Year Exemplary Nurse Mentor award, which recognizes a nurse for outstanding contributions to the professional development of others and leadership in employee engagement. Here's an excerpt from his nomination:

🎉 We’re thrilled to celebrate Lynell Shove, RN, whose diligence and professionalism have earned her the 2025 Nurse of the Year Professional Advancement award! This award is presented to a nurse who has gone above and beyond to advance the profession of nursing, including participating in research, advancing their degree or engaging in educational endeavors, and implementing an innovation in nursing. Here is an excerpt from one of Lynell's nominations:

�"Lynell has been essential to her floor and to our facility, always willing to step up and assist not only on the 4th floor but also with Wound Care and IV Therapy. She is a certified vascular access nurse and has been invaluable to the IV team this year, assisting placement of PICCs, midlines and coordinating care and removal of nonessential central venous access devices helping to decrease the incidence of CLABSI in our facility. Lynell is currently going to school to complete her master's degree."
