Mahalo to First Hawaiian Bank for including the Pali Momi Medical Center Women’s Center as a partner of its Kokua Mai program. 💛🌺

We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of more than 160 First Hawaiian Bank employees across Oʻahu who chose to support women’s health in our community. 🙌

Team members from branches including Wai‘anae, Mililani and ‘Ewa Beach, among many others, joined together to make a meaningful difference.

First Hawaiian Bank has supported the Pali Momi Women’s Center since 2014, and this continued partnership helps us provide essential services for women across Central and West Oʻahu – including mammograms, bone density exams, biopsies, ultrasounds and OB-GYN care. 💕

We also extend our appreciation to the leaders who helped make this partnership possible and look forward to continuing to care for the women in our community.

♻️ Pali Momi Medical Center is committed to our mission of creating a healthier Hawai‘i – for our patients and our planet.

In 2025, our team recycled more than 540,000 pounds of materials, including shredded paper, cardboard, food waste, e‑waste and batteries.

Because of these efforts, we helped save:

🌱 833 trees
💧 251,096 gallons of water
💡 338,311 hours of electricity
🛢️ 10,259 gallons of oil

Food waste was also recycled into animal feed for local farms, supporting sustainability in our community.

Mahalo to our staff and partners for helping Pali Momi reduce waste and protect our island home. 💚♻️

🏆 Join us in celebrating Corey Taniguchi, Pali Momi’s Most Valuable Team Player for January 2026!

Corey, an MRI technologist who also supports CT services, was recognized for his unwavering commitment to patient care. Whenever the team needs extra support, he doesn't hesitate to adjust his schedule, pick up additional shifts or even stay overnight, always ensuring patients receive timely Imaging services.

His collaboration doesn't stop there. Corey worked with colleagues to enhance the CT cross‑training program, helping create a more structured and supportive process that empowers X‑ray staff to build new skills and strengthens the resilience of the Imaging team.

Corey’s dedication, flexibility and commitment to supporting both patients and coworkers embody the spirit of the Hawai‘i Pacific Health MVTP program.

🌺 Celebrating a Young Community Leader 🌺

Meet Maia Kazama, a high school junior who is already making a meaningful impact in our community. Between classes, soccer and everyday teen life, she still finds time to give back.

During a tour of the Women’s Center at Pali Momi Medical Center last year, Maia learned how we support the health and well-being of women across West O‘ahu. Inspired to help, she organized her own coffee fundraiser to support the Pali Momi Women’s Center.

Her generosity earned her a place on our Butterfly Wall, which honors those who uplift women’s health programs at Pali Momi. Her butterfly now hangs proudly as a symbol of her compassion and community spirit.

Stories like Maia’s remind us that Hawai‘i's future is in good hands with thoughtful, caring young leaders ready to make a difference. 💜🦋

👏🏽🌟Give it up for Ieni Taumua, Pali Momi Most Valuable Team Player (MVTP) for the month of August! Ieni is an integral member of the Transport team, where he makes a difference in the lives of our patients and his colleagues every day.

“This man is such a valuable and considerate team player!” exclaims Barbara Johansen, RN, of the 6th floor Telemetry Med-Surg team. “He will always go out of his way to help a colleague. Answer a call light if he can. Physically take over an RN escorting a patient either to another department or back to bed just to help. Always, always smiling. If ever asked a question, he truly will find out an answer to help. Never a ‘no’ answer.”

In the early 1980s, the late Dr. Joseph Nishimoto, affectionately known as “Dr. Joe,” rallied 13,000 signatures to help bring his dream to life – a medical center to serve the health care needs of Central and West Oahu communities.

Dr. Joe’s original medical bag is on display in honor of his dedication to care and his commitment to patients. As a private practice physician in Pearl City, he would make house calls at all hours to improve patient outcomes. Those home visits inspired him to create a state-of-the-art medical center with services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Pali Momi continues to provide cutting-edge technology and treatment for patients close to where they live. As Dr. Joe always advised, find the adventure in your journey and NEVER GIVE UP! Mahalo to Gateside for donating its time, materials and craftsmanship to create this custom display.

The display was unveled during Pali Momi's 35th anniversary celebration earlier this year and can be viewed on the second floor near Guest Registration, in front of the wall where the time capsule is located.

A social worker who mainly serves in the Emergency Department, Sue received more than 20 nominations from her peers. Here are just a few that reflect why this recognition is so well deserved:

"Sue exemplifies what it means to be a selfless caring health care provider. She consistently shows excellence in patient-centered care and provides patients with the best possible patient experience. Sue never complains and always does what is best for the patient"

"Sue goes above and beyond in helping patients in need by providing resources when they enter the ED. She is able to serve as a mediator in de-escalating issues in every aspect and would stay beyond her work hours to make sure everything is done for her patients and staff in the ED. No other words could explain her exemplary work she provides for her colleagues and patients."

"We call Sue the ‘miracle worker’ in the Emergency Department. She takes on any task with a positive attitude and makes the sometimes seemingly impossible, possible. She helps patient's who are in distress and at their lowest points, and provides them with help and support but also hope."

"To know Sue is to know an angel. I am lucky enough to have the pleasure to work side by side with her. She is someone we can all count on to always have a positive attitude. She truly wants the best for our patients. Pali Momi is blessed to have such an amazing and genuine social worker like Sue."
