Ben has been with us this semester completing his final internship before moving to Aiken to spend his audiology residency at Hearing Associates of South Carolina . He'll graduate with his Doctor of Audiology degree in May 2027 from Auburn University

Meet your President Elect who is currently planning the 2027 conference where she will assume the role of President of SCAA until the 2028 conference.

Dr. Lauren Harris, from Knoxville, Tennessee, is an inspirational audiologist. She earned her Bachelor's in Audiology and Speech Pathology from the University of Tennessee and Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She is board certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. Dr. Harris, who uses bilateral cochlear implants due to her bilateral hearing loss, understands the challenges of hearing loss and uses her experiences to empower others.

Her research on Listening Fatigue in Adolescents earned her the Meritorious Research Award from ASHA. Beyond academic achievements, she mentors and advocates for individuals with hearing loss, emphasizes that it should not define them. Through her blog, Hearing Lauren, and social media, she dispels stigma and promotes awareness of treatment options. Dr. Harris is dedicated to diagnostic audiology, hearing aid evaluations, and cochlear implant services, reflecting her commitment to the hearing loss community.

We love getting to be part of stories like this one.

This patient has been with us since he was in elementary school, and it’s been such a joy to watch him grow. Now a graduate student at Queen’s, he also coaches the U.S. Deaf Volleyball Team.

We fit him with a Phonak Sphere 90 for single-sided hearing support. His hearing journey has included Meniere’s disease in grade school along with moderate hearing loss in the other ear from concussion syndrome.

It’s an honor to walk alongside our patients through every season of life.
