January is not only nationally recognized as Stalking Awareness Month, but also Human Trafficking Prevention Month - both are relevant to Cumbee Center's mission.

“Human trafficking, also known as trafficking in persons, is a crime that involves compelling or coercing a person to provide labor or services, or to engage in commercial s*x acts. The coercion can be subtle or overt, physical or psychological. Exploitation of a minor for commercial s*x is human trafficking, regardless of whether any form of force, fraud, or coercion was used.”

Join us for our first Support Group of the new year TOMORROW—no sign-up required!

Current and former clients are invited to attend every 2nd and 4th Thursday, 5:30–6:30pm, at our Aiken office (254 Beaufort St NE, Aiken, SC). It’s a safe and confidential space for survivors to connect and share.

Activities for kids will be provided, if needed.

January 2026 marks the 22nd annual National Stalking Awareness Month (NSAM), a nationwide initiative spearheaded by the Stalking Prevention, Awareness, and Resource Center. The goal is to raise awareness about stalking, highlighting it as a serious crime rather than just harassment, and to motivate communities to learn how to recognize, prevent, and respond to such behavior. Know it, Name it and Stop it.
