Physical safety, in its simplest definition, is the state of being free from harm or injury to one's physical body. Dating violence is when someone you are seeing romantically harms you in some way, whether it is physically, sexually, emotionally, or all three. It can happen on a first date, or once you've fallen deeply in love. Dating violence is never your fault.

Throughout the month of August, Cumbee Center will be highlighting back to school safety information as part of our ongoing prevention initiative. This includes mental/emotional, physical, sexual and digital safety.

Mental/emotional safety is the feeling of being secure, respected, and accepted when expressing one's genuine self, particularly in vulnerable situations. This critical aspect involves trusting that emotional vulnerabilities will be met with empathy and understanding, rather than judgment or criticism, ultimately fostering healthy relationships and promoting overall well-being.
