CARE is excited to introduce our new full-time Tour Director, Julie Nistler!

CARE’s transportation fleet is fully credentialed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Our vehicles are safe, well-maintained, and operated by trained drivers who are medically qualified to transport our most precious cargo—you!

Our Tour Directors are LOCAL people who care deeply about our community members, providing friendly, reliable, and compassionate service every time you ride.

CARE Transportation services are up and running, and rides can be scheduled by calling 218-927-1383, ext. 4.

CARE Announces Two New Members to Board of Directors
Aitkin, MN — CARE, a nonprofit organization serving Aitkin County, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors.

Jen Peterson and Dr. Robin Muller will each serve a three-year term.

Jen Peterson serves as the Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) at Golden Horizons in Aitkin, where she brings extensive experience in senior services, leadership, and community-based care. Her professional background provides valuable insight into the needs of older adults and the systems that support aging in place.

Dr. Robin Muller provides comprehensive family medicine care for patients of all ages, including obstetric services, at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin. Her medical expertise and community-centered approach to healthcare will strengthen CARE’s mission-driven work across the county.

“These two professionals bring valuable insight, leadership, and ideas to our organization,” said Amy M. Wyant, Executive Director of CARE. “Their experience and commitment to community health and aging services will help guide CARE as we continue to grow and respond to the needs of those we serve.”

CARE supports older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers through programs and services designed to help individuals Age Well and Age Strong in Aitkin County.

Meet Miss Abby, the newest (and furriest!) member of the CARE Leadership Team! 🐾

Abby’s main location is the Palisade CARE Office, located in the heart of downtown Palisade at the historic City Hall.

Stop in to meet Abby—and her mom, Athena, Program Director of CARE Transportation Services. Athena is happy to answer questions about the wide range of services CARE provides to help you Age Well and Age Strong.

CARE services include:
Homemaking services [Light cleaning, laundry, bed-making, dusting, sweeping etc.]
Meal preparation in your home
Respite for caregivers
Caregiver counseling and support groups
Balance & Strength classes: SAIL – Stay Active and Independent for Life

As we close out 2025, CARE is proud to announce the opening of our new Toenail Clinic, now located at The Posh Hair Salon in Aitkin.

This clinic features an upgraded professional pedicure chair and practitioner’s stool for our very own RN, Cindy Roden. Cindy takes exceptional care of our clients and provides high-quality, compassionate toenail care—helping you keep your tootsies healthy as you age!

Thanks to the generosity of community members and CARE clients, we were able to purchase this much-needed equipment to enhance comfort and care for those we serve.

We’re CARE, and we’re here to help you Age Well and Age Strong—right here in Aitkin County.

Special thanks to Ann Gile, CARE Program Director; Jeanne Christian, our collaboration partner at Blackrock Terrace in Aitkin; Mike & Jan Cherry for sharing their beautiful musical talents; and Roy Egstad for bringing Santa to life. 🎅🎶
