Our Galentine’s Day event at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant was a celebration of friendship at its best. Guests enjoyed a chef-prepared lunch and plenty of festive fun, all while connecting with incredible women. A wonderful day spent in even better company!

Louis has been building a legacy in the kitchen at Ohio Living Llanfair since he was 16 years old. “I have grown up in this building,” he said, and he likes “nothing better than chatting with my residents and their families.” Louis loves the stories they tell – and the recipes they share.

One of the other things Louis appreciates about his role here is the way his co-workers all cooperate and look after one another. “We all work together as one and get the job done. When someone is down, we lift them up and try to keep things positive and have each other’s back.”

This dedication to teamwork and growth is felt throughout the entire kitchen, and Louis expressed his gratitude for how much he’s learned from his supervisor in particular. Beyond recipes, cooking from scratch, prepping food and putting it into production, “having someone who is hands-on teaching and answering questions… shows me that I can learn new things every day.”

Galentine’s Day was extra special at Ohio Living Rockynol Our assisted living residents enjoyed a heart-themed Paint & Sip with mocktails, wine, and lots of laughter. 41 years ago, Denise saw an ad in the newspaper for a job opening at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village – and soon found herself as a part-time dishwasher. She put so much heart into her work in the kitchen that she soon moved up to a full-time Dish Room team member, and as a full-time Baker a year after that! Denise continued to learn and grow as a Baker, and is now a Chef/Production Manager.

All of Denise’s favorite memories of her time at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village so far have centered around her residents. From welcome bags of fresh home-made cookies for new residents to cookie trays with punch and coffee for residents and their families to celebrate during the winter holidays – and every meal in between – she has always taken great pride in the food she serves.

“I could not imagine a day without our residents,” Denise said. “I love them so much and it is truly why I am still here. I learn so much from them and their life experiences.” One memorable couple used to come dine in Denise’s department because the husband’s mother had been a resident in Fairmount Health Center; she had spoken so highly of how she was treated by Denise and the rest of the staff that the rest of her family wanted to experience it too.

While times have certainly changed throughout Denise’s career at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village, she said one thing has remained consistent: how the residents are treated. “That’s why I’m still working here,” she said. “I love my residents, and love coming to work every day and interacting with them.”
