The collaboration between hospice, assisted living communitiesand residents and their families is an essential part of the end-of-life journey for residents faced with serious, life-limiting illness. When an assisted living community serves as the person’s residence, hospice services are seamlessly integrated into that setting, ensuring the same level of interdisciplinary support, symptom management and psychosocial care as would be provided in a private home.

Happy National STNA Week- we have another wonderful STNA that we want to shine our spotlight on. Help us by continuing to celebrate our STNAs!

Meet Justine, she is one of our awesome STNAs and she has been with our team since May of 2022. She brings compassion with her and provides that extra TLC to our patients. Let's celebrate her!

"I have always had the desire to help and care for others, especially the elderly. I became an aide in 2008 and worked in a nursing home for 5 years before taking the advice of a former coworker to join the realm of a hospice aide. I love having the capability of spending quality time with patients and families that need the most TLC. I believe that I have my niche."

Happy National STNA Week- we have another bright star here at Compassionate Care Hospice that we are shining out spotlight on! Help us by continuing to celebrate our STNA team!

Meet Tyler, she is one of amazing STNAs and has been with our team since October of 2023. She brings sunshine to our patients each day and her patients love her company. Let's celebrate her!

"I became an aide about 7 years ago after working as a housekeeper at a nursing home. I always wanted to provide more care and help the residents that I was around daily. I decided to go into hospice to expand and learn different skills as an STNA. I fell in love with hospice because I get to be there for my patients and families during a difficult time. I enjoy the one-on-one time I get with each of my patients. Compassionate Care has been able to provide me a great experience in hospice, and I am so happy I chose to go into this field."

Happy National STNA Week- our STNAs shine so bright here at Compassionate Care Hospice! Help us by celebrating our STNA team!

Meet Courteney, she is one of our STNAs and she has been with our team since February of 2024. She brings kindness and compassion in her day to day with our patients. Her patients share how much they enjoy her company. Let's celebrate her!

"I decided to become a hospice aide because I believe no one should have to face the end of life alone or in pain. I see my role not just as a caregiver, but as a witness to humanity. I hold hands that are frail, but full of stories. I comfort family members whose worlds are shifting. I do the little things- adjusting pillows, giving a gentle bath, offering a warm smile- that brings peace and preserves dignity. These acts, though small, are deeply meaningful in a time when everything else feels uncertain. And I wouldn't want it any other way!"

Yesterday our Compassionate Care Hospice Team was honored to provide the families of our patients that we served from 2023 and 2024 with our "A Butterfly to Remember Memorial Service." We had a beautiful service at the Carriage House at Stan Hywet Hall. The families were able to place a butterfly ornament on our Butterfly Tree in honor of their loved one. It was a privilege to our team to care for them, and it was a special day for our families to take this space and remember them. Thank you to our families and our team for making this day extra special.

Debbie radiates quality care with all that she does for our patients and their families. She brings comfort during her visits and will ensure that our patients have what is needed. Let's celebrate her!

"I unfortunately have had some very close family members pass whom I loved dearly. I watched hospice come into their homes and provide care not only to my family member but to the family. I then decided that someday I would want to be the one to comfort those who needed it the most. I have the privilege of helping people who have made a courageous decision or family members that have put their feelings aside to honor the wishes of their loved ones and have chosen comfort over fear. I am so honored to be a part of the last stage of someone's life and to help those around to comfort and support these wonderful family members. That is why I have chosen to be a hospice nurse."

Happy National Nurse's Week- and we have the best of the best here at Compassionate Care Hospice! We would like to take an opportunity to share with you some of our amazing nurses this week.

Bri is our Admissions RN, and she is typically the first clinician that our patients meet. She meets our patients where they are at in their journey with her kindness and compassion. Let's celebrate her!

"I've been a nurse for 10 years and have done so many different things within my career. I found hospice about 6 months ago while looking for a career change after having my first baby, and what a blessing it has been. Hospice nursing is by far my favorite thing I've done with my career yet. Being there for not only patients but their families as well, in their most vulnerable time, is such an important, rewarding, and humbling experience. As a hospice admissions nurse, I am one of the first people helping families and patients to make one of the most difficult decisions they may make in their lifetime, and I do not take that lightly. I am so grateful I GET to be a hospice nurse."

Happy Liaison Day! Here at Compassionate Care Hospice, we have 3 of the best! They are typically the first team members that speak to our patients and their families about our hospice services. Their kindness and expertise provide comfort and support to our patients and their families right from the start.

Kim has been with our team since 2023. Her Hospice Why-

"Growing up, my great grandmother lived with us until she was 103. Over the years, I developed a strong affinity and compassion for the elder. Through her own humility, my great grandmother was a wonderful role model for showing love and compassion and how to serve others graciously. Throughout my life, I watched my mother be a caretaker, not only to my great grandmother, but to many of my family members. My mother taught me to be selfless, as she is the most unselfish person I've ever known. These values have been instilled in me throughout my whole life. When I had the opportunity to work in hospice, I felt a strong calling to help those facing terminal illnesses. It is very fulfilling to help families navigate the end-of-life journey with compassion and dignity. Working in hospice has been extremely fulfilling and meaningful. Hospice provides me with a sense of purpose and accomplishment every day." - Kim

Paige has been with our team since 2023 as well. Her Hospice Why-

"Being a hospice liaison is so rewarding and gives me the opportunity to help many people during some of the most difficult times. It allows me to help patients and families learn more about hospice so they can get the care and support they need. Hospice is underutilized and it’s so important that people are given the option and education to make their own decisions."- Paige

Susanne has been with our team since 2022. Her Hospice Why-

"I have always considered myself a very caring and compassionate person. I became a nurse right out of high school. I worked in several positions as a nurse in a long-term care, home health, and a rehabilitation hospital. After several years, I wanted to expand my professional horizon. However, I stayed in the healthcare arena by doing medical and pharmaceutical sales. I found it very fulfilling because the products that I was marketing benefited many patients over the years. Life moved along and my parents and very dear friend needed hospice services. As a result of dealing with these situations up close and personal, I saw the value of hospice firsthand. These experiences led me to want to be more directly involved with hospice. My nursing and sales background seemed the perfect combination to pursue a career as a hospice liaison. This has been one of the most fulfilling and meaningful experiences in my life. I am a firm believer that God puts us where He needs us, and I am right where He needs me to be at this point in time."- Susanne

We are truly honored to work with some of the most compassionate people- thank you for all you do!
