We are an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine residency program. We provide excellent training in a caring and friendly environment.

Our curriculum includes lectures, small group sessions and simulation for procedure and clinical training.

We kicked off our Patient Safety Curriculum for the academic year this past Wednesday!

All residents and medical students participated in a 2-hour long interactive workshop where they learned about the 5-Why’s, root-cause analysis (RCA), safety event reporting systems (SERS), and how to create an action plan to prevent future safety events.

Throughout the year, our second year residents will undertake projects where they conplete real root cause analyses of actual safety events that occur in our hospital. They’ll come up with an action plan and work to implement changes to our existing systems to prevent future safety events. Each PGY-2 will then present their findings during our monthly patient safety conference.

Our residents are working towards implementing real change and moving towards creating a environment.

🌳 On April 1st, Chief Resident Dr. Venkat Tondapu volunteered to speak at the Growing Community Trees for Akron event. He shared his powerful insight on how tree canopy affects community health. Especially when it comes to Asthma and respiratory issues.

💚 Meanwhile, Drs Jashanjit Turka and Fatima Abdulle proudly represented our program at the info table, engaging with community members and supporting the event's mission to build a healthier greener Akron.
