CORE WORD WEDNESDAY - WANT is another great core word to model! Using the language strategy “in sight out of reach” can provide your child with an opportunity to say they “want” it! Try modeling the word “want” while pointing to the object, then wait to see if they will imitate. If your child is not yet imitating, model again and give them the item. The more we model, the more your child will learn to use it!

CORE WORD WEDNESDAY! Core words are high frequency words that make up most of our everyday speech! Core words can be powerful for young language learners because they can be used so many ways in a variety of settings! MORE is a great core word to model throughout your child’s day.
Using the language strategy “withholding” can provide your child with an opportunity to request! Try modeling the word “more”, then wait to see if they will imitate. If your child is not yet imitating, model again and give them the item. The more we model, the more your child will learn to use it!
