Happy Monday, everyone!
We'll be in the office for about an hour today, at 12:00pm if anyone needs to pick up or needs adjustments. And if you need to ask a question, or set up a better time for pick-up, feel free to call. We'll figure out something that works. We'll be in and out a few more times this week, and then next week we'll be (mostly) back to normal hours. Thank you all for your support!

Yup. Blew a tire trying to get to the office. Should have it replaced in a few minutes. 🤦

Thank you to everyone for their understanding and kindness during Amber's recovery from surgery. Please note that if you need to talk to us, or need to pick up glasses/contacts, please call or text the after-hours number. I will be available in the office periodically over the next several days and can arrange a convenient time. We look forward to resuming our normal schedule soon. Have a great day! --Dr. Rowland

To all of our patients and friends:
Many of you are already aware, but we recently had a death in the family, and honestly, we have been hard to reach. We apologize. We ask for your patience while we deal with our loss and get the office back to normal. We are trying to get through messages and emails as quickly as possible. If you need to speak to us urgently, you can call our after-hours number (on our answering machine); or if you need an exam immediately, there are several doctors in the area that we trust, including Dr Heckman on Hwy 31.

February is low vision awareness month. Leading causes for low vision are age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, glaucoma, and retinitis pigmentosa. Other causes can include infections, autoimmune eye disease and trauma.

Low vision is a term describing a level of vision below normal that cannot be corrected with conventional glasses. This is not the same as being blind. People with low vision have reduced sight, which interferes with daily activities.

👻 Difficulty seeing at night.
👽 Flashes of light or floaters.
👾 Changes in color perception.
If you notice any of these signs, it's time to schedule an eye exam.

Struggling to give eyedrops to your kids?
Try this simple tip: Have your child lie down and
close their eyes. Gently pull down their lower
eyelid, then apply the drops to the inner corner of
their eye. When they blink, the drops will naturally
spread across their eye. Easy peasy!

Wondering how often kids should get eye exams
and when to start? 👶 👧

Kids should have their first eye exam at 6
months old, then again at 3 years, and just
before starting school. After that, yearly
check-ups are recommended to ensure their
vision stays on track. Early detection is key to
healthy eyes!
