Urgent! Calling all willing and able volunteers and supporters! We need your help to meet a goal of 1,000 masks by May 1st.

As most of you know, all elective surgical procedures have been halted due to COVID-19. Elective procedures are needed medical surgeries for situations not considered imminently life threatening. Thousands of patients been painfully waiting to have tumors and gall bladders removed, epidural injections, carpal tunnel release, eye surgeries and more.

As of May 1st, it is likely the wait will be over and surgical centers will be reopening to see patients. This is wonderful news overall, but will now put more medical workers and patients at risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19. Almost none of these surgical centers have enough personal protective equipment to prevent the spread of this virus. Each patient and medical worker will have to proceed with extreme caution and protection to keep from having a resurgence of COVID-19. Preemptive protective action is crucial at this time. Just because restrictions are being lifted, it does not mean that we are in the clear.

That being said, we not only need to provide masks for medical staff protection, but we need to provide additional masks for each patient being seen for a consultation or procedure.

If you have already submitted your information to volunteer, someone will be reaching out to you soon. If you want to donate or help acquire supplies, or volunteer to sew and deliver masks, please visit DavidFieno.Com and click the appropriate link.

I thank you all in advance for coming together in this great time of need!

To those of you who might be new to my page, I'd like to inform you of my current N99 Mask Outreach.

The protective medical supplies needed to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic have been scarce. Because of this, I have organized an amazing group of volunteers to produce free N99 masks for at-risk medical workers and first responders.

Our outreach is not just limited Alabama. Our goal is to provide N99 masks for Medical workers and first responders nation wide and worldwide once we become capable.

We are currently over half way to our 1st fundraising goal of $10k (all to purchase N99 surgical drape). Each box of the material we purchase can make up to 500 masks. Our volunteers are making the masks as fast as possible and we are distributing several hundred each day.

Because of the high demand and fast paced of production, we are currently running on short supply of other necessary materials. That being said, our volunteers are in great need of pliable metal for the nose pieces (pipe cleaners will work) and elastic bands for the masks to actually be worn.

I personally ordered 200 yards of white 1/4" elastic braided band rope today, but it wont be delivered for almost 2 weeks. We will certainly need more elastic before that delivery date. If you find either of these materials for purchase, that we could acquire this week, please let me know. If you have either of these materials at home, that you aren't currently using and would donate, we would be very thankful.

If you would like to volunteer, donate, or are in need of masks, please click the appropriate links on my website.

I have two exceptional volunteers by my side, Jeanne Sougeron Darby and Joel Oglesby, either of which may respond to you and be your point of contact in this effort.

Thank you so much for all that you are doing. We are in this fight together and we couldn't win without your continued love and support.

Sincerely,

Dr. David Fieno
