REGISTER TODAY for SLC's Transgender Awareness Week Legal Name Change Clinic, which will be held on November 14, 2024 from 6-8pm. The clinic will be free, virtual (on Zoom), and available to Florida residents statewide!

This clinic is being put on by SLC's Transgender Rights Initiative in collaboration with trusted pro bono partners from León Cosgrove Jiménez, LLP and Greenberg Traurig, P.A.

If you are a transgender adult who lives in Florida and you want to change your legal name and gender marker on your government-issued identification documents, or a parent of a transgender minor who lives in Florida and your child wants to change their legal name and gender marker, this clinic will provide you all of the information, forms, and assistance that you need to navigate these processes!

We are thankful and hopeful for such a victory!!

After nearly 2 years of fighting DeSantis’ ​"Don’t Say ​Gay or Trans" law in the courts, we’ve reached a historic settlement agreement with the state that puts an end to some of the most dangerous impacts of ​"Don't Say Gay or Trans" for Florida’s students, parents, and teachers.

This settlement not only reaffirms the rights of LGBTQ+ students and educators to live and speak openly but also marks a significant step towards rectifying the damage inflicted by the ​"Don't Say Gay or Trans​" law. It's a testament to what we can achieve when we stand united against discrimination and for the dignity of all LGBTQ+ people in Florida.

This victory is more than a legal triumph; it's a beacon of hope and a reminder of the power of collective action. It demonstrates our ongoing commitment to a Florida where everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can live authentically and without fear.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our legal team at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP and the The National Center for Le***an Rights, our partners Family Equality, the brave parents and educators who served as plaintiffs, and all who have supported this cause.
