This is about a month late, but I actually graduated midwifery school on June 2nd 2022 with many of my closest friends in tow. I am grateful to for our education and for all the support along the way. None of us would be here without our professors, classmates, and administration which worked endlessly to help us get to this moment. I can’t believe I did it. I remember my first day as a student nurse and feeling so excited but also very overwhelmed at the prospect of studying super hard over the next three years and working many hours at all hours in the hospital to become a CNM/WHNP. My goal was actually to walk across the graduation stage very pregnant and I am proud to say that I walked across the stage at 30 weeks with my baby girl kickin her way there with me. I am especially grateful to one very special midwife pictured here alongside me in the first photo ❤️ Kaitlyn you’ve been with me on this midwifery journey since the beginning and ever since we met I felt a crazy spiritual connection with you that will last for the rest of our lives ✨ you are such an incredible person, let alone badass kind life saving brilliant hilarious midwife. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve called or texted you in a panic about clinicals or a patient situation, or school overall, and you always manage to calm me down and remind me that this journey is one of self growth, acceptance, love, and constant learning. I am also grateful to my cohort of midwives who I worked with on this crazy journey and who also taught me a great deal. May we all find our respective paths in this field and continue to thrive and save peoples lives- especially in the current state of affairs we are in. Of course, I am always thankful and in sincere gratitude to my husband and my dad and mom who pushed me to get here, who listened to me, and who supported me throughout this new midwifery path I am on. Thank you all.

We need to change how we view postpartum health in this country. Ads like this need to be seen by Americans. We should not be rejecting what is real and what is motherhood.

A new law criminalizes ge***al cutting, a harmful practice that nine in 10 Sudanese women are said to have endured. But some warned laws alone cannot eliminate the practice.

Loving this

In a zoo in Ohio, a female gorilla was born and raised in captivity, got pregnant and had a baby gorilla. On the day she had her baby, she didn't know what to do. She had never seen another gorilla nurse, and she had no concept of breastfeeding. Sadly, the baby gorilla died.

When she became pregnant again the gorilla's keeper called La Leche League and volunteer nursing mums went to the zoo to nurse their babies in front of the pregnant gorilla. At first the gorilla ignored them, but as her delivery date grew closer she became very interested. When the baby gorilla was born the mother gorilla forgot all that she'd learned and started to freak out. The keeper quickly called the La Leche League and another volunteer rushed over and slowly showed the momma gorilla what to do. The gorilla watched, mimicking the moves step by step until, with a nearly audible sigh of relief, the gorilla looked down at her chest and saw her baby feeding happily for the first time.

We are no different - breastfeeding is a skill, and sometimes it just helps to watch another mom breastfeed. Thank you to LLLN.I. for this post.

This is awesome! I’m very excited to begin my studies as a midwife in the fall of 2020 ❤️🥳

Here is a new family ❤️ Mama’s second birth was incredible and an honor to be a part of. ✨The way this man was involved in his partner’s birth was truly something I will always remember. 🌸I love working with couples who are so in love in every way, that they want to help in any way they can, and bring joy and peace wherever possible. These two held space for each other so beautifully, allowing for dancing, for breathing, for hugging. is such a privilege. I am delighted for this new family and their little cantaloupe 🍈. Onwards and upwards little babe! Welcome to the world 🥰
