✨ A gentle reminder for us all ✨

WHEN PARENTS GET OLD ...
Let them grow old with the same love that they let you grow ...
Let them speak and tell repeated stories with the same patience and interest that they heard yours as a child ...
Let them overcome, like so many times when they let you win ...
Let them enjoy their friends just as they let you …
Let them enjoy the talks with their grandchildren, because they see you in them ...
Let them enjoy living among the objects that have accompanied them for a long time, because they suffer when they feel that you tear pieces of this life away ...
Let them be wrong, like so many times you have been wrong and they didn’t embarrass you by correcting you ...
LET THEM LIVE and try to make them happy the last stretch of the path they have left to go; give them your hand, just like they gave you their hand when you started your path!

✨ Our team at Alice Home Care was honored to celebrate the latest cohort of graduates from the Angel Caregivers Training program at the Diversity in Health Training Institute (DHTI)! 🎓💙

It was a joyful event recognizing the dedication and achievements of this newest class of caregivers. 🌟

We’re especially proud that our founder, Alice Lai-Bitker (also founder and President of the DHTI Board of Directors), and Sherry Xie were there to cheer on the graduates and share in this special milestone. 🙌

Together, we celebrate the future of compassionate caregiving and the strength of our community. 💐

👏 Congratulations to the graduates! 👏

💜 A Day of Remembrance, Courage & Community 💜
On July 19th, we joined in solidarity at Alameda’s Relay For Life at Leydecker Park—a powerful day honoring lives touched by cancer.

Alameda is proud to host the second longest-running Relay For Life in California, after Bakersfield—a testament to the heart and strength of this community.

Alice Lai-Bitker walked alongside her husband, Steve Bitker, in loving memory of her father who passed 25 years ago. Her mother once walked with her before her own passing. This year, we also honored dear friends currently fighting brave, courageous battles. 🎗️

We were proud to stand beside longtime event organizer Deanna Hui, Joanne Robinson of the American Red Cross (who works tirelessly with youth volunteers), and Dawna Dowdell and Margaret from Kiwanis, serving smiles and ice cream donated by Tucker's Ice Cream.🍦

A truly meaningful day of remembrance, resilience, and community. 💪💜

A new documentary on PBS shows what it's like to care for adult family members and recounts the history of caregiving policy in the U.S., revealing why those caring for family are often on their own.

🌟 What a day! 🌟 We had an incredible time at the Roaring 2025 San Leandro Senior Resource Fair today—thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth! 🖤

The event was buzzing with energy, connection, and care. It was heartwarming to see so many community members, city leaders, and longtime advocates for senior well-being in attendance. We were especially honored to connect with leaders of the San Leandro Senior Commission, Jan Woycheshin and Marci Dillon, who are working closely with the city on important Age-Friendly Initiatives. 🙌

As part of this work, the City of San Leandro recently adopted its first-ever Age-Friendly Action Plan (2024–2029)—a 5-year roadmap to create a more livable, supportive community for older adults and residents of all ages. 💛 [Click on the following link to view the Age-Friendly Action Plan: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19l1AQ3CYMcQn2ZNPVDiin6hREW0Wb5TA/view]

From public servants to local champions who have dedicated decades to our senior community, it was a powerful reminder of how much love and commitment surrounds our elders in San Leandro.

A huge THANK YOU to the San Leandro Senior Community Center for hosting such a successful and meaningful event. We’re proud to be part of a community that shows up—and dresses up!—for our seniors. ✨
