Dr Ellis Edmunds, PsyD

Dr Ellis Edmunds, PsyD If you are suffering from anxiety and are tired of feeling so stressed all the time, you’re in the right place. I provide therapy and mindfulness groups.

Do you tend to live too much in your head? Do you care too much about what others think? Are you struggling with anxiety and panic? Perhaps you have had a panic attack in the past and have never fully recovered. Maybe your anxiety has started to affect your work, relationships, or health. You might be feeling down about yourself, feeling adrift, or having a hard time believing anything is "worth i

t." Depression might be keeping you stuck and affecting your self-esteem. Maybe you are in a transitional phase in your life and need some support. Perhaps stress has gotten out of hand. It may seem like nothing you try helps. I know how difficult this can feel. Whatever your circumstance, life can get better. Things can improve. It is possible to let go of your struggles and live a more peaceful life filled with meaning, purpose, and direction. A new perspective of acceptance and compassion can grow. I specialize in Mindfulness - the ability to be fully present and let go of unhelpful thoughts and emotions that get in the way of living the life you want. My style is collaborative, warm, and accepting. I also lead a Mindfulness Stress Reduction Group in Oakland. Visit my website to learn more - www.drellisedmunds.com

Greetings fellow Mindful Traveler!

Happy January and New Year 2025! This month I want to share some wisdom that came to me as I was reflecting on the past year.

Life is full of opposites - joy and pain, loss and gain, good times and bad times. There are two sides to every coin.

So with each side, how do we hold that experience?

With negative life experiences we often want to run away, fight with, or pretend they are not happening. Which is understandable.

But perhaps there is a different way - perhaps negative life experiences have a meaning and purpose to them.

What if they were your teacher? What if they were asking you to grow into who you are meant to be?

What if your struggle was pointing you to something that is truly valuable to you.

What if you health struggles were showing you how to truly love your body?

What if your relationship difficulties were teaching you how to be kind to your inner child?

What if your career let downs were pointing you back to your true purpose in life?

And on the flip side - how might we hold positive experiences in our life?

Do we dismiss them and say we don't deserve them? Or get stuck in fear that they will be short lived?

Perhaps positive experiences can be held with an attitude of gratitude.

Can we say "thank you" for the many blessings we have and continue to receive? And truly sit with them in joy?

So with each experience we have in life - both negative and positive - perhaps we can practice holding them with Growth and Gratitude.

And from there we can embrace both sides of the coin of life's experiences.

This is what I have been learning in my life as well :)

Thanks for reading and I hope this message was helpful as you start your journey into 2025.

I've been slowing down in many aspects of my life, realizing it is perhaps the truest way to make progress, especially toward healing our mind, body, or heart.

As counterintuitive as it sounds, slowing down allows our nervous system to rest and enter a state of repair and renewal.

What have you noticed happens to your mind, body, and heart as you slow down?
