Believe it or not, an epidural is far from the only pain relief option we have for labor!

Brush up on all of your options! Of course, you don’t know what you will need while IN labor. But having an idea of what your options are, the pros and cons, and ultimately what you’re comfortable with, can make a tremendous difference when the time comes.

Even if you plan on getting the epidural ASAP, it is still a great idea to practice some other pain relief techniques. Why? Because we have no idea how our labors will play out! There’s a chance that you won’t be able to get an epidural, or that it might not even work for you. While we always hope for the best, it’s always good to be prepared.

Let’s talk about autonomy!👏🏻

Did you know that you can say NO to your provider?? A lot of people don’t know this! I didn’t know this 3 years ago!

This is YOUR pregnancy, YOUR body, YOUR baby, YOUR birth. You have a right to make informed decisions about your care.

Now let’s get this straight. We’re not going around throwing “no’s” left and right. The most important takeaway from this should be the ✨informed✨ part. We’re learning how to ask the right questions to make sure we understand what’s being recommended.

Taking charge of your birth can be easy if you have the right guidance!

My name is Jasmine Toomer and I have just begun my journey as a birth doula here in the Alamogordo area! My husband and I have been married for almost three years, and we have two beautiful boys. Through the birth of my children, I began to understand the true beauty in birth and the need for more support for expectant parents. I am so excited to have found my calling as a birth professional!
