Applications are now open for the New Mexico Youth Ranch Management Camp (NMYRMC), a hands-on educational experience designed for youth ages 15–19 who are interested in ranching, agriculture, and natural resource management. The 2026 camp will be held June 21–26, 2026, at the CS Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico, providing participants with an immersive, real-world ranch environment.

The weeklong camp focuses on developing practical ranch management skills through college-level instruction, applied learning, and field-based activities. Campers gain experience in livestock management, range and pasture management, recordkeeping, decision-making, and leadership, all while working alongside experienced instructors and industry professionals. The program is ideal for youth considering careers in agriculture, ranch management, or related fields.

Enrollment is limited to 30 participants, and the camp fee is $400. Scholarships are available, and families are encouraged to apply early due to limited space. Additional information and the online application can be found at nmyrm.nmsu.edu.

Curry County 4-H members, please call the Curry County Extension Office if you are interested in applying. There are scholarship opportunities available for those who need it.

Join me live for a Sponsorship Strategy Session where we’ll break down the biggest gaps I see in titleholder and committee sponsorship programs and how to fix them so sponsors stay, grow, and renew.

I've never been a queen, but I have built a brand from nothing by working hand-in-hand with both title holders and committees, from the county fair level to national titles, and after over a decade of doing so I've seen an experienced an enormous amount- both from the title holder and committee perspective, as well as a sponsor. The unfortunate truth is that this industry is beginning to decline, and if that happens it compromises not only the sport that we all love, but the betterment of so many young women- as well as livelihoods of others that depend on Rodeo Queening- be it designers, the rodeos themselves, small businesses getting started, stock contractors, hat makers, silversmiths, photographers, funny men etc. The ONLY way to uncover and work on mending the holes in the bucket are to have an open and honest discussion along and a clear path of implementation, delegation and accountability from EVERYONE involved- from brands to title holders, committee members to governing bodies such as the PRCA/IPRA and others, and that's precisely the conversation I want to start.

Please drop any questions you have below or feel free to message them privately. As a professional sponsorship strategist, issues like these are exactly what I uncover and teach my private clients looking to grow their own sponsor relations either as a title holder or as a committee, but I feel like it's an important discussion to share with everyone, not just my clientele.
