PEER BRIDGER STORY:
Travis met the NYAPRS Peer Bridger while he was in the hospital and when he moved into the community, the Bridger was still with him. The Bridger supported Travis to go to Community College for culinary arts. With the continued support of the Bridger, Travis is now working at a restaurant and has moved out of the area.

He said, "When no one thought I could go to school, I started to think the same. My Bridger believed in me and pushed me to follow my dream. I was so lucky to have her and I could never thank her enough and won’t ever forget her – she helped me change my life!"

PEER BRIDGER STORY: Paul left the hospital and moved into an apartment in the community. The apartment needed a lot of repairs but Paul felt unable to request them. A NYAPRS Peer Bridger helped Paul to find his voice... and he did. Paul was able to get the landlord to make the necessary repairs! Paul was surprised and so very proud of himself that he could speak up and not just accept whatever was given him – “I know now that I am worth it”

Our NYAPRS Peer Bridgers are located in Binghamton, Albany, Rockland, Queens and Long Island. We work with a lot of wonderful people to experience true community immersion. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
