I am a badass 44 year old woman (lol), and it was definitely NOT January 1st that made it so.

What I mean is, do not get caught up in this day. It is just a day. It is not the beginning and it is not the end.

Every day, hour, minute and second is an opportunity. And you are going to need LOTS of those if you plan to meet your goals.

Many of the days will be bad. But when you start stacking them up you will realize they are ALL victories. Baby steps in the right direction.

So, if today wasn’t it…. You always have tomorrow. And the next day and the next day and the next day.

Keep showing up. Anything is possible.

Take it all the way to the end.

Running has taught me a lot of things. It has fueled me, it has humbled me, it has been my worst enemy and my best friend.

Over the past year I have noticed an extraordinary shift around the idea of quitting. Of course, I have gotten physically stronger - which has helped. But my real transformation has been mental.

I realized that when you give up on small things, like a run, it trickles out into other areas of your life. It almost gives you permission to give up on other things too.

I don’t give up anymore. Do I have bad days? Yes. But I have promised myself that I am going to live with a new mantra. I take it all the way to the end. Even if I am cursing or crying or crawling. I take it to the end.

Let do this.

As the days have grown shorter, I have been plunged back into the darkness! 4:30 wake-ups, miles by street light and watching the sun rise.

I forgot how much I missed it. It is so quiet. So still. Very honest.

I read a quote the other day that said, “the grind is often lonely.” True.

But I have thought through some really difficult problems on my runs. I have made tough decisions. I have cried. I have laughed. I have rolled my eyes. I have thrown my hands up - mainly at bad drivers.

I have learned that I really enjoy my own company. In the words of Carrie Bradshaw… “I am not lonely. I am alone.”

And it feels good.

Last week I ran 51 miles. Next week I will run 55. This week I did things I would have never even considered 6 months ag...

Last week I ran 51 miles. Next week I will run 55.
This week I did things I would have never even considered 6 months ago. My 44 year old body is reconsidering….

But tbh, I never doubted myself. I knew I could do it. I will continue to do it.

Feels like I am just getting started….
