She helped with translation, prepping for surgery, recovery and baby care until the early hours of the morning. 🩸 January is National Blood Donation Month!

Megan Hosmer, one of our own at Samaritan Health Services, began donating blood after her stepdaughter Ava relied on frequent transfusions during cancer treatment. Inspired by Ava’s strength, Megan now donates regularly — and her blood has even helped patients right here in our community after making it's way to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Congratulations to Danielle Hagemann, CMA at Samaritan Walk-In Clinic – Geary St., one of Samaritan Albany General Hospital's January Rising Stars! 🌟

Danielle showed incredible compassion when a patient disclosed sexual assault. She immediately connected the patient with Sarah’s Place for medical forensic services and resources. Her quick action ensured the patient received needed care and support in a timely manner.

🎉 Welcome, Paizleigh Stephens! Albany’s first baby of 2026 arrived at Samaritan Albany General Hospital on Jan. 1, at 6:06 a.m. Congratulations to parents Alexis Rhoads and Philip Stephens! 💕

Throughout December, Samaritan Albany General Hospital hosted a food drive to support Fish of Albany, Inc.’s food pantry. Thanks to the generosity of our employees, we collected 292 pounds of non-perishable food. 🥫

To make an even bigger impact, our Nutrition Services team matched those donations pound for pound with fresh oranges which added another 300 pounds of healthy food for local families. 🍊

This holiday season, Samaritan Albany General Hospital staff came together to make a difference for local families. 💙 Through Toys for Tots, we collected gifts that will bring smiles to children right here in our community. In addition, our team participated in the Elf Project, shopping for specific children to ensure their holiday wishes come true.🎁

Congratulations to Jackie Foster, ambulatory care clinical pharmacist at Samaritan Geary Street Pharmacy, and one of Samaritan Albany General Hospital's December Rising Stars! 🌟

Jackie’s commitment to quality care and patient safety stands out. During a recent visit, she recommended urgent follow-up with nephrology for a patient experiencing worsening symptoms – likely preventing an Emergency Department visit over the weekend. Jackie didn’t stop there! She checked MyChart days later and followed up to make sure the patient was doing better.

Her thoughtfulness and persistence show how much she cares about the people we serve. Thank you, Jackie, for making a real difference in patient care! 💙

You don’t forget a room like this - tables covered in food, backpacks stacked to the ceiling and the Hayden Homes, LLC crew moving with purpose.

In one hour, we packed 100+ food backpacks for patients in need to leave the hospital without enough to eat in those first few days of recovery.

Hayden Homes didn’t stop there. They also gave $5,000 to keep the Albany General Hospital Foundation Food Backpack Program going strong!

Because they believe everyone deserves a meal to heal. 💛🎒✨

Kassidy’s attention to detail and kindness make a big difference every day. Recently, she noticed an unattended backpack and made sure it was returned to its owner, and flagged a broken computer monitor so it could be fixed before the weekend. These small actions show her commitment to safety and care for both staff and patients.
