The 2025 Albany Prize has been awarded to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College graduate Dr. Jeffrey M. Friedman of The Rockefeller University for his discovery of the hormone leptin and its role in regulating food intake and body weight, which established a biological basis for obesity.
