Hi Everyone,
I’ve had a few patients recently ask about the “barefoot” shoes I occasionally wear in the office. They are made by a company called Vivo, and their main benefits are stronger feet and a “zero drop” design.
These shoes are best suited for individuals who need excellent ground contact and have good arch support. I’ve personally found them beneficial for gym workouts and shorter walks. They offer great ground feedback, though the downside is minimal cushioning. I typically wear orthotics in my other shoes, so switching between the two has been an interesting experience. Orthotics on the other hand provide tons of support for your aches which is great for individual with fallen arches.
If you’d like to discuss footwear further, please let me know!
