What is CareFest?
CareFest is a one day Texas Country Music Festival located in Albany, Texas. This event is a fundraiser with 100% of proceeds benefiting our Outreach Programs in our six communities of Albany, Baird, Breckenridge, Clyde, Cross Plains, and Merkel
Our Mission
ResourceCare's mission is to provide exceptional healthcare and outreach services to the communities we serve in the Big Country area through medical, dental, and behavioral health access for all.
Our Vision
To be the leading healthcare resource in each community we serve.
Our care and concern for a patient goes beyond just their physical health. We understand if you can’t afford health care, can’t pay for your basic utilities or don’t have enough to feed your children, that your personal world will be filled with stress which can lead to medical problems.
While we can’t help with all problems, our Case Managers attempt to find any resource that can provide for our patients. Many times, the help needed is just temporary, but it can make a big difference in a person's life. Our Outreach department is the heart and soul of our organization.
While we do receive some grants, they just aren’t enough to cover all of our expenses, or may be specific to a service. Our Case Management team continuously fundraises throughout the year for all six of our communities (Albany, Breckenridge, Baird, Clyde, Cross Plains, and Merkel).
Our services include an after-school program, Summer Day Camp, Vittles by Vehicle, Senior Day Luncheons, Emergency Assistance, Christmas for Teens, Toys for Tots, Christmas for Families, Teen Monthly Program, and any other area where we need to assist.
Below you will find a brief description of some of our Outreach Programs. Here at ResourceCare we strive to make each of our communities a better place to live. We also donate funds to other non-profits in our communities to give back and help out.
We hope that you will be able to help us in our endeavors to make our communities better and bring smiles to the faces of those who might need them the most. Please remember that every little bit helps and we would be honored with any donation that we are able to receive. Thank you in advance for your time and your consideration.
Summer Day Camp has been a part of our organization since 1998. It initially began to help reduce the youth crime rate during the summer months in Albany with the first camp only registering around 15 kids. Over the years, it has grown to be so much more than when it started.
Currently Day Camp is registering around 175 kids ages 3-12 for a total of 3 weeks during the month of July. 40 High School students are also given jobs as camp counselors and we usually have around 10 junior high volunteers.
Camp helps provide a safe place during the summer months as well as educational experiences.
The children take tours of the local fire department, City Library, and Old Jail Art Center, The Courthouse, as well as participate in a day of community service in the town of Albany. They also swim daily from 1-3 and other recreational activities throughout the day. Breakfast snacks are provided each morning as well as warm nutritional meals for lunch that are sponsored by the Summer Food Program.
ASPIRE is our after-school program that is currently operating within the Albany, Baird, Breckenridge, Clyde, Merkel, and Cross Plains elementary schools. Children are able to get help with homework, reading comprehension, computer labs to help improve spelling as well as required state testing. Children are chosen for the program by teachers and counselors based on their overall performance in school and barriers they are facing at home. High school students are also hired to help the teaching staff provide one on one attention to the kids as well as with homework and recreation time. This program has been very successful in the overall improvements of the kids who are enrolled and has been vital in their advancing to the next grade level. ASPIRE is currently funded by the United Way of Abilene as well as local contributions.
Senior Citizen Programs
Luncheons - The third Friday of every month we host a FREE Senior Citizen Luncheon at the Youth Center here in Albany. We serve around 30 Senior Citizens. We stay late and play card games and dominoes. It’s a chance for the seniors to get out and mingle with others. Everyone in the community is invited and encouraged to come.
Vittles by Vehicle – Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we serve over 40 meals to people in need. Just like Meals on Wheels, but completely funded through donations and fundraising. Local churches take over the deliveries of the meals. The Food Bank of Abilene helps out by donating some food to this Outreach Program.
Adopt a Senior – During Christmas each of our clients that participates in our Vittles by Vehicle Program are “adopted” for the Christmas season. Wrapped gifts are sent to their house, along with their meal.
Programs for Teens
Adopt a Teen – We noticed that a lot of children that receive Toys for Tots had older siblings that had out grown that particular program. So, we created a new program where Teens that are in need have a great Christmas as well. We take their wish list and get almost everything that they are wanting. It’s just one way that we feel we can help out the teens.
Breckenridge Teen Night – Our Outreach Program in Breckenridge rallied the community together and created a Teen Night once a month. Teens are able to mingle with other teens and receive positive role models and conversations.
Emergency Assistance
All Communities – Our Emergency Assistance Program helps out all ages in many different ways. We offer rides to doctor appointments, school, work, or even the grocery store. We help families with paying their bills if the need arises. We gather funds for any crisis that possible could arise, and help our patients get back on their feet, however possible. This particular program is not funded by grants and is solely run through our fundraising efforts throughout the year.
