A first for the Capital Region.

Capital Cardiology Associates, in collaboration with Albany Medical Center, has successfully performed the first TriClip™ procedure in the region — a minimally invasive treatment option for certain patients with tricuspid valve disease.

This approach may offer new options for patients who are not candidates for traditional open-heart surgery.

Learn more about tricuspid valve disease, who may be a candidate, and how this advanced therapy is expanding care in our community.

At Capital Cardiology Associates, we remain committed to delivering the gold standard of cardiac care. Beginning January 1, 2026, our routine inpatient cardiology services will transition from Samaritan Hospital to Albany Medical Center and St. Peter’s Hospital, where our team has a larger, more coordinated presence.

Our Troy office at 2200 Burdett Avenue remains open, and we are working to introduce a new walk-in Enhanced Cardiac Access Clinic to provide faster access to care.

These changes will help us deliver more consistent and comprehensive cardiac services to patients across the Capital Region.

We were honored to see Capital Cardiology Associates featured on WNYT NewsChannel 13 for a story that reflects the heart of our work beyond the exam room.

Through our CCA Gives Back program, Capital Cardiology donated a life-saving AED to Glens Falls Medical Mission, which provides care to medically underserved communities in Guatemala.

As shared in the story, this mission brings together physicians, dentists, students, and volunteers from across the country, working long days to ensure every patient is seen. This marks the first time an AED has been available at the clinic, adding an important layer of emergency preparedness.

We are grateful to WNYT NewsChannel 13 for highlighting this effort and the volunteers who make this work possible.

Today’s Capital Cardiology Minute: Coronary Calcium Scoring

Dr. Lance Sullenberger breaks down coronary calcium scoring, what it is, what it measures, and why it matters for your heart health.

Coronary calcium scoring is a quick, non-invasive scan that looks for calcium in the coronary arteries. It helps identify early plaque buildup and gives patients and providers a clearer picture of future heart-risk, even before symptoms appear.

Understanding your score can guide prevention, treatment, and peace of mind.
