We are deeply saddened by the departure of one of our founders Richard Buckman. We are forever grateful for the vision he and the other founders had to ensure the recovery community was not only seen seen but heard. Thank you Richard, job well done.
It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of our beloved founder, Richard Buckman.
Rich was more than the founder of the Long Island Recovery Association, he was the heart and soul of this movement. His vision, compassion, and tireless advocacy touched countless lives across Long Island and beyond. He dedicated himself fully to breaking down stigma, lifting up individuals and families, and fighting for a world where recovery is honored, supported, and celebrated.
Richβs legacy lives on in the thousands of lives he helped save, the community he built, and the hope he inspired. To know Rich was to know kindness, humility, and a determination to serve. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever guide our mission.
We invite our community to join us in remembering and honoring Rich. Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
