Last month, we hosted the Albany Aquatics Association Swim Meet at our YMCA! 🏊 The event welcomed over 100 athletes from across the region. We are proud to provide a place for young swimmers to compete.

Mark your calendar! Middle schoolers are invited for a night of music, fun, and friends: Get ready for a college gameday-themed bash on Friday, November 7th. Show up wearing your favorite college football team's colors! Entry is FREE: pre-register or register at the door.

🎓 Bring your Student ID or proof of middle school attendance.
✍️ Parents/caregivers must sign a waiver for entry.

🎶 STARTING WEDNESDAY: World Rhythms Hand Drum Class at the Mid-Willamette Family YMCA with Drum Circle Connection! 🪘

Join us for a vibrant series led by Michelle Lovrich, founder of Drum Circle Connection. Discover how drumming awakens the mind, body, and spirit—connecting you to a global rhythm of joy, creativity, and healing. In this class, you'll:

✅ Learn West African-style rhythms on the djembe—solo and ensemble playing
✅ Bridge rhythm layers to create unique variations
✅ Improve your timing on any instrument
✅ Learn to find, begin, and end on “the one”
✅ Play rhythms in relation to beat subdivisions
✅ Put rhythm into your body, play with natural flow
✅ Practice warm-up exercises to build skill and awareness
✅ Develop ergonomic and efficient playing technique

Classes are Wednesday nights, November 5th, 12th, and 18th. Open to ages 12+ (ages 12-18 must be accompanied by an adult). All skill levels welcome, no experience necessary! ⭐ Y Stories: Dennis Miller ⭐

Many individuals help our YMCA run smoothly: One is Dennis Miller, a longtime supporter and Y member. Miller provides IT and cybersecurity support for our YMCA and is the owner and operator of Talent Cyber Security in Albany.

Behind the scenes, Miller updates and improves systems around the Y. He keeps the Y’s computer systems, WiFi, and Internet safe and secure, provides general tech support, and has helped replace old computers and servers. He maintains the YMCA’s internet equipment and responds to tickets when the YMCA staff needs assistance. Yet, Miller is also driven by a passion for education and sharing knowledge.

🏀 Sign up now for Jr. NBA Winter Youth Basketball at the YMCA! 🏀

We are excited to announce that the YMCA has partnered with the Jr. NBA to provide a recreational, coed program with the mission of empowering our youth through the game of basketball. Our goal is for the young athletes to improve on their skills, and to teach the importance of teamwork, leadership, and most importantly, having fun. We aim to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive experience for the young athletes in our community.

📅 8-week season, January 5-February 28
👶 Ages 4-13
🕠 Practices on weeknights, games on Saturdays
💰 $110 for members, $120 for guests
