On this Memorial Day, we are reminded of the quiet wisdom found in horse herds. Horses practice mutual grooming — standing side by side, caring for one another, building trust through connection despite differences in rank, personality, or role within the herd.
It feels like a lesson our society still needs.
The men and women we honor today came from different backgrounds, beliefs, and walks of life, yet they stood together in service of something greater than themselves: protecting one another, protecting freedom, and protecting the idea that unity matters more than division.
Maybe healing in our communities begins the same way it does in the herd — with small acts of care, respect, and willingness to stand beside each other.
Today we remember those who gave everything for that ideal. 🇺🇸
