The Oswego County Health Department offers FREE Narcan training and Narcan Kits to Oswego County Residents ages 18+.

Narcan is a lifesaving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Narcan is given as a spray up the nose, and can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose in 2 to 3 minutes.

ECHD is alerting the community to a recent increase in drug-related overdoses. Data from the Overdose Mapping Application Program (ODMAP) indicates there have been three fatal overdoses within the past 30 days.
Between January 6 and December 5, 2025, there were a total of three fatal overdoses in Essex County. The County has experienced as many fatalities in the last month as it did in nearly the entire year of 2025.

Thank you to the Oswego County Health Department and The Art Scene for hosting this Mental Health Art Show and creating space for community members ages 12+ to express themselves through art.

The Art Scene is hosting a Mental Health Art Show that highlights creativity as a tool for reflection and well-being. Multiple art forms are welcome, and community members ages 12+ are invited to participate!

NYSACHO supports, advocates for, and empowers local health departments in their work to promote health and wellness to prevent disease, disability and injury throughout New York State. As the operational arm of the public health system, local health departments understand the unique needs of their communities. They are essential voices in developing policies that are realistic, effective, and appropriate in scale.

NYSACHO is the membership association of local health officials in New York State. We represent all 58 local health commissioners and public health directors, and the local health departments they lead. NYSACHO is incorporated as a not-for-profit, non-partisan charitable organization with 501(C) (3) tax exempt status.
