Thanks to WNYT and 518 KosherKosher for bringing JFS into the spotlight. JFS provides Kosher (and now Kosher for Passover) Home Delivered meals to those who no longer cook. Our volunteers deliver meals weekly and even more meals during the holidays. This week we also delivered over 200 Passover gift bags to older adults living in care facilities, senior apartments, and private homes, including Holocaust survivors.

We're always looking for delivery volunteers! Reach out if you want to help:

What happens when we put out an APB for volunteers? They show up! Ten people gathered to stuff over 200 Passover gift bags which will be delivered to older adults in care facilities, senior apartments and homes – including to Holocaust survivors. This effort brings the spirit of the holiday to so many and reminds them that JFS is here, always! Thanks to the students at Hebrew Academy of the Capital District, Congregation Beth Emeth, Congregation Berith Sholom, and Congregation Agudat Achim for the handmade Seder plates!

❤ If you are available to help deliver bags next week, please contact us! 518-482-8856, Option 0 or info@jfsneny.org. THANK YOU! ❤

JFS was representing! Our board members and staff attended the Spice Detective (Yaniv Cohen) cooking demonstration and tasting last week. What a delightful evening hosted by the Jewish Federation of NENY! It was like a reunion with everyone coming out from their winter nest!

We are so excited to introduce Rabbi Adam Lautman, our new Jewish Community Chaplain. Rabbi Adam will be working across JFS and to provide spiritual support, music, and connection for our older adults and their families.

"Joining JFS means being present and witness to joy, suffering, and our unique, individual Torah; and reminding each other of the Divine spark within each of us." — Rabbi Adam 🕯️

Welcome to the team, Rabbi! We are so glad you’re here.

JFS takes great pride in being a practice-based learning environment for college and graduate schools in fields such as social work, counseling, psychology, nursing, occupational and more.

Since 2012, UAlbany School of Social work has looked to JFS for “field placements” in their Internships on Aging program (IAP). We have helped (and even hired) many students as they honed their clinical skills working with the older adult population.

Last week, UAlbany's the IAP program got a significant funding boost from the William Randolph Hearst Foundation. As part of the PR for their great fortune, they chose JFS for the filming location. Enjoy some pics of their joy and ours!
