This week is Fall Prevention Week — a time to raise awareness about falls and promote strategies to prevent them especially for those with I/DD. 💙

We can help prevent falls by:
✔️ Making sure your home is safe and free of clutter
✔️ Finding exercise programs to support balance
✔️ Wearing well-fitting shoes for proper balance

At Care Design NY, our goal is simple: to help every person we support live their best life. ✨

Did you know collectively there are over 300 sign languages and an international sign language used worldwide? 🤟🌍

Today is International Day of Sign Languages!

Sign language helps many people, including people with disabilities, communicate and connect with others. Today, we celebrate sign language and the people who use it. Everyone deserves to be understood and included.

Today marks 38 years since the closure of Willowbrook State School — a moment that changed the course of history for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

The legacy of Willowbrook reminds us why we must always stand up for the rights, dignity and inclusion of people with I/DD. While progress has been made, the work continues. We are proud to be part of a community that pushes for change, protects individual rights and supports people in living full, meaningful lives.

🧠 Mental health matters — for everyone.

People with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) can feel stress, worry or sadness just like anyone else. But sometimes, it’s harder to talk about these feelings or get the right support.

If you or someone you care about is having a hard time, you’re not alone. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and help is available.

Your Care Manager can connect you with the right support, whether it’s talking to someone, learning new ways to cope or finding services in your community. Don’t wait to ask for help. Taking care of your mental health is a big part of living a full, healthy life.

💙 Talk to your Care Manager today. We’re here for you.
