Impulsivity is a hallmark of gambling addiction; it's reacting, not responding.

Real "Living in the Moment" Helps Recovery by learning to observe urges without acting on them, which helps to interrupt the automatic cycle of gambling.

Kassidy Watson's journey to completing her Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) with FOR-NY was made possible through an OASAS Addiction Workforce Program.

In June 1866, she became one of just five Black women to testify before a U.S. Congressional committee investigating the Memphis Massacre, marking the first known time a trans woman testified before Congress.

The saying 'normalcy is proximity' is relatable to problem gambling. As much as it was for Frances Thompson speaking up for her rights in 1866.

If you’re surrounded by people who gamble often—at home, in your friend group, at the barbershop, in the breakroom—it can start to feel... normal.

But just because it’s common doesn’t mean it’s harmless.

🛑 Let's pause and ask:
— Is this fun, or is this hurting someone?
— Are we normalizing pain because it’s familiar?

Gambling addiction is real. It's quiet. It's growing. And it often hides in plain sight.

💡 It’s okay to question what we’ve accepted as “normal.” Healing begins with awareness—and support is always within reach.
