Launched in December 2012, ANA-NY is dedicated to promoting excellence in nursing practice, seeks to improve the quality of health care services, and promote professional and leadership development of registered nurses. A constituent member of the American Nurses Association, nurses who join ANA-NY will have membership in and receive benefits from both the state and national organizations. We are an organization that advocates for all nursing-providing a voice for all nurses across all specialties and practice settings. We are actively recruiting nurses to join our new organization to help shape it's purpose , activities, and work on behalf of professional nursing in the state.

The American Nurses Foundation has announced a new funding opportunity to support nurse-led research at the intersection of AI and innovation.

In partnership with Hippocratic AI, ANF will award up to three $10,000 microgrants to nurse-led teams exploring how artificial intelligence can improve care delivery, reduce burden, and advance the nursing profession. Nurses at all career stages are encouraged to apply, with a focus on empowering early-career nurse leaders.

The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has issued a Call for Comments on proposed revisions to its Standards for Accreditation of Entry-to-Practice Nurse Residency Programs (last updated in 2021).

Feedback is encouraged from programs that are currently accredited, preparing for accreditation, or planning for future reviews. Stakeholders, faculty, and current or former nurse residents are also invited to participate.

⭐ New York has signed Hospital Violence Prevention Programs (S5294-B / A203-B) into law. The legislation requires hospitals to establish workplace violence prevention programs, conduct safety and security assessments, and develop plans to address identified risks. It also mandates dedicated security or off-duty law enforcement coverage in emergency departments to better protect nurses and healthcare workers.

ANA-NY supported this bill alongside emergency nurses, physicians, and healthcare advocates. The law takes effect in September 2026.
