John "Jay" W. McBride

John “Jay” W. McBride, 71, of Wynantskill, NY, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday July 16, 2025. He was born December 6, 1953, to the late John "Jack" McBride and Mary June McBride and grew up in Wynantskill.

Very early in Jay’s life, it became apparent that his life's passion would be music. From his elementary school days where he performed multiple trumpet solos at his 8th grade graduation, through his dedication to the Troy High School band, and his decision to major in music education and performance in college, Jay excelled as a trumpet player. His relationship with music never waned. During college and shortly after, he performed in various local bands throughout the Capital Region.

His largest presence in the area’s music community, however, was defined by an ardent dedication to the Drum and Bugle Corps activity. Jay’s abilities as a performer for many local corps was well-regarded and later his talents as an instructor/educator had an enormously positive impact for so many of his students. As well, he was a fervent advocate for the value of music education in our school systems.

In later years, Jay’s artistic talents began to include photography where he became quite adept at still shots. He often traveled throughout the northeast to find locations of photographic interest.

Jay spent many years living in Plattsburgh, NY as a sales professional with Bill McBride Chevrolet where he also made many community contributions.

Perhaps of most importance to Jay was his commitment to family and the many friends he made throughout his life. Whether attending regularly scheduled breakfast gatherings or communicating online across the country, he greatly enjoyed staying in touch with his life-long friends.

Jay was loved and will be missed by siblings Margaret "Meg" (Joseph, deceased) Bucci, Daniel (Lori) McBride, Neil (Marie) McBride, and Michael McBride. He also loved his many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and adored his cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jay’s family on Friday (7/25) from 3 to 5 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. A time for sharing and reflections will commence at 4:30pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, (www.diabetes.org) in memory of John “Jay” W. McBride.

Edward H. McElroy Jr.

Niskayuna - Edward Hugh McElroy Jr., 89, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025. He was born on December 29,1935 to Edward Hugh McElroy Sr. and Katherine K. (Keigher) McElroy. His older sisters Geraldine (Keyes) McElroy and Kathleen (Chandler) McElroy welcomed him to what became Edward’s life-long home on Rugby Road until his move to Glen Eddy in 2017. St. Helen’s Church (now St. Kateri Tekakwitha) was the family’s spiritual home where Ed continued his membership for his entire life. He spent many years there as a volunteer accountant. He referred to it with a twinkle as “counting the money”. The McElroys were proud of their Irish heritage, and Ed Sr. would often mention a leprechaun who ducked out of sight before the children could see him. Ed. Sr. rose through the ranks at Trustco Bank; starting at the age of 15 literally sweeping the floors and doing errands; and retiring as a vice president. He instilled a love of the banking industry in his son.

Edward graduated from Schenectady’s Nott Terrace High School in 1954. He received a BA in economics from Tufts University in 1958. While at Tufts, he was a staff member of the school’s newspaper and the manager of their radio station. Barnum donated the stuffed hide of Jumbo the Elephant to Tufts in 1889 where it became a significant part of Tufts’ history and traditions emphasizing themes of strength, resilience, and good luck. Ed began his lifelong passion for elephants; and collected elephant themed art from around the world. He earned an MBA from Columbia University. Ed proudly worked for the Federal Government as a bank examiner where he often spent long weeks in distant cities making sure that things were “done correctly”.

Edward served in the Army for four years. He would arrive at the Keyes house in Amityville from basic training at Ft. Dix with mud-caked laundry in his duffle bag. As Ed described it, he was stationed in Schwandorf, Germany from the age of 22-26. His tank group “was assigned to the mountain passes when the Berlin wall was going up, and their mission was to sacrifice themselves to delay a Russian advance.” Unfortunately, other tales of his service have been lost to time.

Ed was an avid and adventurous world traveler. From the Orient Express to cargo ships in the South Pacific, to the treasures of Egypt, to the fjords of Norway, to the streets of London – Ed spent his life traveling in and enjoying interesting places all over the world. He introduced his sisters to the joys of cruising and accompanied them on many expeditions.

Edward loved animals although he was never able to have his own pets. Family often teased him with talk of having him pet-sit. The love of his life was Navi the Golden Retriever who brought him joy in his later years.

Ed moved from Rugby Rd to the community at Glen Eddy in Niskayuna where he resided until his death. He met many cherished friends there. His wit and dry humor were assets to all. Ed was a prolific reader throughout his life; particularly enjoying enormous scholarly biographies and who-done-it mysteries. He loved the library at Glen Eddy and volunteered there.

Survivors include the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of his sisters Geraldine (the Keyes family) and Kathleen (the Chandler family). Many happy memories include “Uncle” at family gatherings in Long Island and Schenectady. Ed was particularly close to his cousin Bob McElroy who predeceased him by many years.

He is survived by first generation nieces and nephews Geraldine Keyes (Michael Safran), Patrick Keyes (Jo Ann), Katherine (Chandler) Hamlin (Alan), Alison Chandler (Fred Johnson), Emily (Chandler) Witbeck (Bill), Arlene (Chandler) Moran, and Theresa (Chandler) Fallon (Peter); and the late Elizabeth (Keyes) Kelleher (Peter), Thaddeus Chandler, and Michael Chandler.

The interment was done privately at the Kateri Meadow Natural Burial field at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please consider sowing some native wildflowers in your community, or donating in Ed’s (and Navi’s) name to ECAD (Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities) at www.ecad1.org . Ed has already specified his own gifts to Kateri Tekakwitha Parish and the Glen Eddy Library.

Carl R. DeMarco

Henderson, NV- Carl R. DeMarco, 69 years old, grew up in Colonie, NY. He passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2025. He graduated from South Colonie High School and from there landed a life long career as an esteemed hair stylist.

He was a man of many interests and talents, and love for learning as his many friends along his life’s path can attest to. Carl was a hairstylist in Bennington for most of his career, owning his own salon for part of that journey and teaching hair design at his alma mater for many years. He served on the Better Bennington Design Committee and was a member of Park McCullough house in Manchester.

He had a love of gardening, which he shared with family and friends alike, and became a master gardener so he could help others on their gardening journey. He was an amazing cook and found great joy in cooking up new recipes with produce and herbs from his garden.

Carl’s love of nature led him on great adventures hiking all over the country. His recent move to Las Vegas made it possible for him to explore more of the west coast. His commitment to nature and the environment followed him to Las Vegas where he joined the Springs Preserve.

He is predeceased by his father, Ervin DeMarco, his brother Ross DeMarco, and his niece Cara DeMarco. His survivors include his mother Clara DeMarco, his sister Theresa (John) Malkiewicz, his sister in law Alice DeMarco. He is the cherished uncle of Samantha (Josh) Swirsky, S. Kyran J. Nardolillo

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Kyran James Nardolillo, who was affectionately known by many as KJ, Neph, Nephew, or KyKy. Kyran passed away on July 10, 2025, in Troy, New York, at the age of thirty-nine.

Born at Albany Medical Center on March 6, 1986, Kyran lived his life with a spirit of quiet strength, a deeply humble heart, and an unwavering love for Jesus. He was born again in his faith and carried that light with him, proudly sharing his passion for God with those around him.

Kyran was a proud and dedicated member of the Painters Union Local #201, where he was respected for his work ethic, humility, and commitment to his craft. He also played an instrumental role in helping launch his uncle's business, "Simpli Painted". Beyond his trade, Kyran had a deep love for animals and spent several years raising and caring for American Bullies. His loyal companion, Dolo, his beloved furbaby, remains a lasting piece of his heart and memory.

From an early age, Kyran discovered joy and freedom through riding. What began as a love for two wheels on BMX bikes grew into a passion for motorcycles that lasted throughout his life. Riding was not simply a hobby to him, but a meaningful extension of who he was, his sense of freedom, his love of movement, and his connection to the world around him. He ultimately passed while doing what he loved most, embracing the road and living fully with courage and authenticity.

Known for his calm, thoughtful nature and quiet strength, Kyran was someone you could talk to for hours. He was wise beyond his years, kind without effort, and unwavering in his faith and loyalty. He never lived to impress anyone; he lived to be real, grounded, and loving. To know Kyran was to know family.

Kyran is survived by his mother, Tinamarie (Brady) Gillespie (Charles); his father, Dominick W. Nardolillo; and his beloved siblings: Kayla (Chrissy), Kyler (Lexy), Kameron, Karlina, Kalissa, Kierston, Colton Marissa, and Chrissy. He is also survived by his father figures, Darren Doran and Charles “Charlie" Gillespie, by Grandparent's, Wilbur J. and Theresa Brady, James Adams, and Marilyn Nardolillo.

Kyran is also survived by his nephew, Wyatt Luca and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Margie Adams, Peter K. Nardolillo, Ellen D’Aloia, and Anne and Maurice “Cracker Jack” Doran.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave, Albany, NY. A Celebration of Life will follow at September’s Too, 1165 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12205.

Kyran had used a screen name, "Styles Basic" and it was because vanity and material things meant little to him.

Kyran wore a tattoo on his arm that read, “Spread Love.” In his honor, we will carry forward that message in how we live, love, and remember. His spirit will live on in each of us- through the kindness we share, the humility we show, and the faith we hold close.

Kyran James Nardolillo will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. He will always be remembered as a son, a brother, a friend, and above all, as family.

Forever in our hearts. Always our family.

Albany – Rosemary Keane, 88 of Albany. We are heartbroken to announce that our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother went to be with the Lord on July 16 after a short stay at St. Peter’s Hospital. Rosemary was born on November 21, 1936 in Albany, NY. She was predeceased by her husband John T. Keane, parents Helen Comer (Moran) and Michael Comer, sisters Joan Walker (Dan), Nancy Testa (Pat), Alice Comer, brother-in-law Thomas Keane, sister-in-law Eileen Keane and her Grandson Kyle Friss.

Rosemary was a lifelong resident of Albany, NY. She was a graduate of Vincentian High School and went on to work for the New York Telephone Company for many years before retiring in 1990. She was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers Club.

Beloved Mother of Kathleen Cramer, Debra Friss (Scott), Michael Keane, Tina Barr (Tim) and Amy Carmello (John). Cherished Grandmother of Cameron, Jennifer, Connor, Corey (Lauren), Kaylee (Andrew), Justin, Braeden (Nicole), Timothy, Ryan (Emily), Zachary, Paige and Great Grandmother to Drew and Ava. Sister-in-law of Judith Keane. Aunt of several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Jim Cramer who will always be family. Our Mom loved him dearly and appreciated all he did for her.

Rosemary’s family meant everything. There was nothing more she enjoyed than spending time with them. You could always count on her presence cheering her kids and grandchildren on at their many events. She raised us with unconditional love and took pride in making every holiday a special day for her children to remember. She created lifetime memories. She was a selfless person, always putting her family’s needs above her own.

Rosemary started bringing her children to Wildwood, NJ in the 1980’s, a yearly tradition that continues three generations later. The treasured memories we have made will last a lifetime.

Rosemary kept in touch with her many friends and looked forward to their lunches and reunions. You could always find her nose in a good book and she passed on the love of reading to her children. She enjoyed music and attended several concerts—her favorites being Engelbert Humperdinck and Celtic Thunder. She enjoyed drawing and was a very artistic person.

Rosemary would allow each of her grandchildren to pick the Halloween costume of their choice. She would spend countless hours making them, adding great detail. We have so many pictures and memories of her spectacular creations. Once Rosemary retired, she took on the role of babysitter. She spent years making sure her grandchildren were loved and well cared for. She brought so much fun into their lives.

Rosemary had a great zest for life and fought hard until the very end to maintain her independence and strength. She still loved going for car rides which always ended in a trip for ice-cream. Instead of good-bye, Mom would always respond to our I love yous with I love you more.

We would like to thank St. Peter’s Hospital and their staff for all the compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hyperacusis Research hyperacusisresearch.org/how-to-help/

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Rosemary’s family on Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11:00 at Christ the King Church, Westmere. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. We love you more Mom!
