Drag and Defiance is coming to Mt. Ida Preservation Hall as a bewitching benefit for two local non-profit organizations! This event features a fully trans cast of performers, raffles with prizes to die for, and food and beverages available for purchase! Join us inside for beer and wine while you are starstruck but this lineup of all trans - performers!

All ticket sales and raffle purchases go directly to supporting Collar City Pride and Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood. Together, these organizations provide dozens of services throughout Rensselaer County and beyond, catering to the needs of LGBTQIA+ individuals and those seeking reproductive care, to name a few.

Chelly Hegan, President/CEO of Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood issued the following statement:

“The First Circuit allowed the Trump administration to ‘defund’ Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood, blocking patients from using Medicaid as their insurance at Planned Parenthood health centers. Patients may be confused or concerned but know this: the fight is not over — we will continue to push for everyone’s freedom to get high-quality, affordable care at the trusted provider of their choice — including at Planned Parenthood health centers. No matter what, personal medical decisions should be between a patient and their provider.”

Last week, the First Circuit allowed the “defund” provision targeting care at Planned Parenthood health centers to take effect. Make no mistake: Planned Parenthood health centers will never stop caring for patients, and care will continue - no matter what. “As this case continues, patients across the country can still use Medicaid to get care at their trusted Planned Parenthood provider,” Chelly Hegan, President/CEO of Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood said Monday. “This is a key but temporary victory, and the fight is far from over.”

BOSTON — A federal judge has fully blocked a provision that would have effectively defunded Planned Parenthood centers throughout the country by barring them from receiving Medicaid reimbursements.

As you may have seen, President Trump signed into law a devastating bill that "defunds" Planned Parenthood. This is a direct threat to our reproductive freedom and New York State must act to protect access to care for those who need it.

Please sign our petition today, calling on the Governor to ensure that Planned Parenthood health centers continue to get the critical funding they need so that all New Yorkers continue to have access to the sexual and reproductive health care they need from the providers they trust, regardless of where they live or how much money they make.

As of July 7, Planned Parenthood has been barred from receiving Medicaid reimbursement. Planned Parenthood Federation of America filed a legal action that resulted in a two week stay.
“We opened our doors to full schedules last week and we’ll do it again this week. We will continue providing care for as long as we can because the health and well-being of our patients remains our top priority. Planned Parenthood is a trusted health care provider and a cornerstone of the public health system in the Capital Region,” said Chelly Hegan, President and CEO of Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood. “This defunding and the legal battle that will follow creates confusion for our patients and serious barriers to reimbursement for the essential care we provide.”

Planned Parenthood is hoping New York can cover the loss of federal Medicaid funds after the “One Big Beautiful Bill” denied funds to the clinics for a year.

For over a century, Planned Parenthood has empowered people with the care and resources they need in the face of unending attacks and setbacks. We kept fighting then, and we’ll keep fighting now.

Because the Trump admin and Congress voted to “defund” Planned Parenthood, cancers will go undetected, STIs will go untreated, and patients won’t get the birth control or abortion care they need. However, UHPP will always provide for as many people as possible, for as long as possible. Care continues — no matter what.
