Backstage PT 🤝 Skidmore Dance

Opening night for Spring Concert was last night! I had an amazing time offering Backstage PT for dancers to help feel their best for the performance. A nice mix of taping, soft tissue mobilization, muscle activation techniques, & others were used to prime muscles and prepare dancers on & off the stage!💚

👂🏼Popping hips? Try this⬇️

📢PSA: STRENGTHEN YOUR HIP FLEXORS! A popping or snapping hip flexor in a developé or extension is a sign of weak hip flexors!📢

As you try to extend or more often LOWER your leg, your hip flexor (aka Iliopsoas muscle) has to have strength to lower it with control. When you lack that strength, it lowers out of control causing that 💥 CLUNK sound.

Have popping or snapping hips? Comment “POP” & let’s work on your strength together!!! 🤝

🌸Welcome Spring ➡️ New Hours🌸

Happy first day of Spring! Stating in April, Elevé Physical Therapy is offering updated Spring hours, Thursday pm & Saturday’s, to better accommodate your busy schedules.

Spring season often means entering the height of competition & performance season. It’s important for athletes to use this time wisely to ramp up to reduce injury, check in with a coach, & elevate performance.

If you or your child need a tune up or a licensed specialist to check in with, message us to get started!

Longer days and new beginnings ahead 🌞

Stronger extensions start with strength, not overstretching! Try this exercise to strengthen hip flexors and core.

Last day of Dance PT in NYC! 🧠📊🩰

Wow, so much to say about this course in its entirety! Huge thank you to & for hosting such an amazing workshop. I learned a TON & helped to solidify training & programming principles for load adaptation in athletes and dancers.

Working & training performance athletes is no easy feat. There are so many variables to consider to find the best, most clear approach to rehab & performance training. I am grateful to have shared the space with incredibly smart & forward thinking colleagues who are pushing boundaries in the rehab and training spaces.

Dancers & Performing Athletes live in an especially challenging world with real life barriers and limitations (packed schedules, early sport specialization, pyschosocial pressures, mental health loads, etc.)
It’s up to us as rehab & training professionals to work within these constraints to the best of our abilities to bridge the gap between rehab & performance.
